  1. I rode to Bailey yesterday for lunch, left here around 3pm. Coming back home and after Deckers in the 50mph zone I see a black vehicle in the far distance hauling ass to catch me. No idea where he came from (was not parked at Deckers?) and he closed on me where the speed limit drops down to 35. He got close enough to pace me in the 35 zone. I suspected it was a LEO when I spotted it way back in the distance so I was not speeding when he caught up. He never used his radar.

So I was stuck with the LEO right behind me the whole way back. Riding through there at 35 is like getting a root canal. He finally broke off at West Creek. I figure he was running at least 100mph as he caught up and tried to bust me where the speed dropped to 35. Funny thing though is that I was not even speeding 50 zone before I saw something back there.

He was after bikes. No way he would have closed like that if he just saw some SUV way in the distance.

    Good to get out though!

  2. whoa, I got a little freaked with just one buffalo standing next to my bike, that many I would have kept my distance. I just pulled out and took off around the gawkers, my vfr looked tiny next to a full grown bison - me on it. I never made it to the bad lands, what was that like?

A park ranger told us to head down that road to see them, so we didn't have to ride through the herd to the other side! We were taunting each other to do it, but we all chickened out.

They seemed to care less about the cars and one Harley rider came through from the other side and rode past them with no problems. Like you said though, they are huge and we would have been right next to them if we had to ride through. Plus they had all the babies around and you would think the Mom's might be on edge. We stayed back about 50 yards, with some guys leaving their bikes running just in case!

They seemed very passive and attacks are probably extremely rare....but no need to ride slowly by them on my loud RED VFR..

The Bad Lands were OK. I am kind of spoiled after seeing Bryce Canyon, Zion, etc. Pretty good though if you have not been further west and south. It was hot though and July is probably not the best time to visit.

  3. Rode it today and it was almost clean, they must have swept it.

Saw your buddy about half way to Deckers in the corners. Thankfully he had his radar on versus instant on so I got a few corners warning before I saw him.

I also ran into him a few days ago when I drove through there (same truck/atv combo). Again he was running radar. Seems they are getting a hard on for that area for some reason.

BTW - Did he actually call it Horse Power Hill when he was asking about the 50 mph speed limit?

  4. Great ride Miguel, thanks for coming along on such short notice! Can't believe you worked all night and still made the ride.

That HD guy was cracking me up. Notice I was slowing after the corners to let him catch up, he really wanted to pace with us. The kind of guy you would like to stop and have a beer with...no doubt he loved to ride...couldn't quite push his machine through the corners (well not even close), but he was having a blast just like we were. It would have been ok if he had just caught up on the straits but then he tried to pass us...the nerve!. Like I said, he was having fun and really riding that beast.

Nice to follow you back through the black canyon, it was the smoothest run ever through there for me. The cows were a problem, but great conditions other than that.

    Don't forget next year...

  5. Poor Tim on the FJR. Blows one corner the whole trip and Miguel is right there to catch it on vid... :goofy:

I checked the map again and still can't find the road he was signaling with his right blinker. There was a campground about 20 miles up the road, maybe just giving us advanced notice..

  6. Is anyone else having trouble getting the pics to show up? I relly wanted to see these.

Are you getting any of the pics?

I see them fine when logged in as a member. Just have to wait a few for them to load before starting to scroll down.

There are a few more this AM than I got to open last night. I waited until the "Done" message came up, but still can't see all of them. Love the ones I CAN see. (Says he with an envious look!).

    Ernie,

My photo server was blocking hotlinks. I am fixing it now and it should work fine in the next hour or two.
