  3. What are you trying to say, that the NR was too heavy, too slow, and too expensive? They do make great museum pieces, though.
  4. Tim, I've got a good left switchgear you can have for free if you want one to play around with. It might be possible to add switches for other devices.
  5. I hadn't heard that you found some 98/99 headers. If so, get them Jet-Hotted. Rather than adjusting the valves, take the heads off that spare motor you got and have some fun. Mild port/polish, deck for higher compression (maybe check piston/valve clearance first), let's see 120+ Hp out of a VTEC.
  6. That's nuts! I can't believe the road looks that clean.

    Falco at PIR

    From the album: Aprilia Falco

First track day, 9/25/06. Turn 9 at PIR. Starting to get pretty good lean angle in the afternoon, but need to get that head down. Hitting about 135 on the straight, but the turns are the best part. What a blast!

  13. Thanks for the additional details; I'd love to do this mod. Your steering stop bolts look like they'd work for normal low-speed maneuvering, but in a crash I'm sure they'd bend, and probably not provide much protection to the oil cooler (you may have mentioned this in an earlier post). That's probably about the best solution though, short of welding on some additional bosses.
  14. Great post, thanks! So, for anyone that's done the frankenfork, what'd you think? I rode an RC51 last weekend and I was blown away by the absolutely rock-solid handling. The steering was heavy, but nothing phased it in a turn. The brakes were great of course. What I reallly want is an RC51 with a bigger fuel tank and near-VFR ergos (I'm real tall). But, maybe a 5th or 6th gen with franken-fork and rear shock would be close enough. Less weight and liter twin torque would be nice, too. I've never ridden a Superhawk, that might be worth trying, also.

    V1 Mount

    From the album: VFR

I cut the mount out of some scrap sheet aluminum, bent a couple of ears down to fit on top of the instrument panel cover, and used a couple of machine screws to hold in place. They're backed up with nylock nuts on the inside of the cover.
