  1. Wasn't it just an exercise in kit installation, then getting the local dyno guys to tune it? That has to be easier than working out which/what pistons/rods/additional stroke will work, then rebuilding the engine? I'm not saying that it isn't a worthy project to bore/stroke a VFR. I'm just saying that the supercharger kit would be an easier option if the company could be convinced to do a production run. Given the cost of various parts and machinist work, the supercharger could be cheaper too... Hmmm... What about the bore/stroke AND supercharging... ;) Sadly any dreams of reviving the torocahrger are dead. The guy running the company now works for rotrex, and the shop he did all his work in was his fathers machine shop which has since been sold off. I had inquired about getting some parts made to convert a 6th gen kit to a 5th gen. and it was a definitive "no can do"
  2. If memory serves Nickel plating is part of the chroming process. Which means any chrome plater can nickel plate! Jesse
  3. Any chance you could do a tutorial on how you get the Google maps onto your phone. I've tried and can't seem to figure it out? Jesse
  4. Have you googled the part number? I found a used ecm for mine that way (they retail for 900$) on a classifieds listing. Jesse
  5. seems pretty close but maybe not exactly....
  6. I know right, who would have thought!!
  7. Using the part number and a google images search gave me 2009 suzuki GSX-R 1000 OEM mirrors!
  8. Glad I could help! I spoke this week to that very talented mechanic Brian was referring to, Bruce Allnut. I stopped by his recently opened shop to chat about all things two wheeled and plied him with a few questions about the big bore kit as well. He essentially mirrored what Brian said, but added a few details. Like on a couple of the engines he remembers removing a set of gears. I believe he was talking about the gears the keep tension on the cam drive gears to quiet them down. said it added some noise but really helped "wake em up". He remembers with quite a bit of detail a lot of the processes involved. If you guys have any other Q's fire away and I'll ask him too!! Jesse
  9. I've sent Brians email address to rush and mohawk. that should get the dialog going. Jess
  10. Ok, so I texted Brian. He got back to me and said I could pass along his email address to those who wish to get in touch with him. So anyone interested can pm me for the details. Jess
  11. Yeah I want to know the cylinder to cylinder measurement,as well as the total depth to the cylinder liner. 870cc big bores have been done, I just don't know how to get in touch with the true source Brian Law..I would think that either Brian worked out that 6mm MMC sleeve walls were still thick enough or He replaced them with them with tougher steel sleeves 6mm thick. What I'm thinking is what if someone was willing to bore the cases for sleeve larger than 88mm in diameter, say 92 mm? Even if you stay with 7mm walls (the allowed overbore thickness of the mmc liners) your talking about being able to fit 78mm pistons. That puts you over 917cc's. That's getting into a very over square engine. In fact it is so far oversquare, that I'm starting to think about the rods and a stroke increase again. Now with the information about length of the rods, and total length of the cylinders, a stroker kit could be put together with a crank and alternate length rods. well John your in luck. I know Brian, grew up with his boys. he lives about ten minutes from my house. I also know Bruce Allnut the mechanic that worked with Brian when he had dynamohumm. I've brought up a few of these threads to him in the past, explaining there is still interest in the projects they we were working on. But that whole endeavor ended kind of bad. there seemed to be little interest on his part. But I will give it another shot and see what he says. I'll try and get him to read some of the threads. Who knows I might be able to convince him to join for some Q&A (don't hold your breath) . Jess
  12. As far as repairing them find a cobbler. depending on how they are constructed he may either repair or even replace the sole. I have a good in the town where I live and he's really good and cheap. Just had my Dainese boots stretched in the toe area a little...4$! Jess P.S. I love my Dainese boots, goretex so they're waterproof. and they were comfy till somehow my feet got fat over the winter??
  13. I have a sena as well, smh10 and I absolutely love it. As said works flawlessly and is super simple to operate! Money well spent. Jess
  14. Look what came in the mail today! From some dude in Indiana... And so it can sound and look as good as it handles! And the end result. I'd like to give a big thanks to Jamie for the great service and super quick turnaround. Now I had previously done the 929 conversion and have race tech 0.95kg springs in the front. But seeing as I am the better part of 250lbs I knew the setup was less than ideal. As I was riding down to go get the shock trying to pay particular attention to how my bike handled, I was anxious to find out if I would really notice "that much" of a difference from what I was currently running? So I set to the task of swapping out the shock and installing the Delkevic high mount. within an hour I was listening to the sweet rumble of my new 14" carbon pipe(spud out). And then I went for a ride, the only word to describe the new handling characteristics..."PLANTED" during my shakedown ride I found myself looking down at the speedometer thinking F&%K!!! this is quick!! Pretty much the best money I've ever spent on the bike. what a difference! Thanks again Jamie. Yeah the muffler is cool too. :) Jess
