  1. This adopted Honda I have had been dropped before my ownership. My intention was to sand down the paint plus respray. The tank has some OP orange peel in the clear. I intend to strengthen each fiberglass lug with carbon matting plus Cyanoacrylate glue. (THIN) With the one side of the fairing off I may take it to a local paint shop. I follow Windy Urtnowski on utube who repairs crashed fairings from bikes.
  2. If only people wax wheels, or paint...FK1000P is a wax seal so great protection. No damage as long a as pressure washer too near can cause issues. PlastX will take scratches our of plexiglass screen, with some effort. You can wash in Fairy Liquid if you must, Plain Stardrops @10:1 with warm water will degrease any bike..
  3. You can put a small desiccant pack into to capture the dampnedness. Once it is sealed it may not happen again. We put these in telephone cable boxes to help with damp, then change them frequently.
  4. Ceramic Bike Detailing. https://youtu.be/48RoR1pJywk?si=AVC6eIwinr1MdXJa
  5. I detail bikes plus cars my own plus other thought it might be favourable to share some if the tools plus techniques. Some just want to ride, others prefer to clean everything all at the same time continually. You can just wash your bike with car soap so plenty of option available for every price range. We have flow chats so in getting your bike clean for a ceramic coat to bond. We are asked the best product is a wax costing 1000's of dollars more effective than one costing $30. Buy one range then become familiar with that how it works in hot, dusty or dry conditions. Good luck everyone, plenty of global products so find the one they recommended in your location, results or perceived durability can be subjective.
  6. Good job I machine polish paint cars and bikes.. A good wash may be sufficient for some, a good wax when required.
  7. Yes Captain have other good batteries plus bikes, so in knowing that a good battery would not start it, I was chasing forwards of that. Little did I know the battery was so old, as it started the bike over winter..with good pace plus strength.
  8. The relay was getting power only 7v battery drop on cranking from 12.5 insufficient to start the bike....the starter relay itself was faulty. I too was not expecting both, the relay the garage had was the wrong size for the bike. Turns out the battery was change in 2011 so worn out as well...it has starter the bike all winter... New relay on order old school bike shop, things everywhere. So cleaned all connectors, the starter works from independent 12v. It also had a Data Alarm which is a PIA...
  9. My local independent has a starter relay, on inspection the battery was down to 7v on starting. In was exchanged in 2011 so well past its functional date... I may wet sand the tank while at this point yet undecided.
  10. 91...Bought from the President of the FJ Association....plenty of good ones about now.

  12. Yes sorry Grum, the side stand switch is working plus the neutral is on....the mini crank confirmed those as working... I am learning a lot here....I have a Honda CB750 plus Yamaha FJ1200 as well, thx guys.

  14. Yes Grom the headlight is bright plus fine...is the ohms test across the starter relay coil 5 ohms., does that give any indication of correct function. Captain, I tried to jumper with a separate battery, no crank my bikes all have battery maintainer through our cold and damp winters. I am about 50 miles from the Lake District.
  15. From I test the starter motor with an independent power 12v that turned over. The original battery I do not know how old that is....can you do an oms test on the starter relay itself. I have other bikes. Any battery suggests for these Hondas, I have Leoch plus Motobatt.. Thanks for you help gentlemen. 🏍
  16. Some success although I had porwer to the starter relay...the press start would not start the bike with a full battery...even crank. The starter motor does respond to independant power...tonight when I turned the bike on, the starter relay awoke into action in just making a constant clicking sound, plus the bike tried to start. That means the handlebar stop/start is functioning plus the starter button itself. It may well have been intermittent as the starter relay made no sound at all in the beginning. So ordering a new stater relay....big Honda dealer near us. Thanks again Grom for all your suggestions...making progress now.
  17. Many thanks Grum I shall test all the things you suggest.... Will do ASAP...

  19. Currently chasing a No crank issue, the battery is charged I am testing each connection going forwards for power plus continuity. The starter relay has power the 30amp fuse is good...had IV power directly to starter motor so that works. The stop/ start button has continuity plus starter button not working. It also has a Data Alarm which is a pain, to say the least. This 2000 I adopted so enjoying, getting to know where things are, I am getting nearer the fault....lol I have a bad back so all this is taking time. Any suggest always welcome. Thank you.
  20. If the clear scratch is deeper that your fingernail it would need filling sanding plus clearing. Good repair takes time done well. You could take the paint off the dint, fill sand paint then clear. Good luck.
