  12. Well, here's the real reason why now. I've always wanted to drag my knees, it might have been one of the reason why I took the racing course. I read a lot about it, and 2 reasons stick to mind as of why I don't drag my knees yet. 1st is I'm not there yet, but it's getting close. 2nd, my leather suit is too tight. When I look at the pictures, my knee doesn't stick that much, and part of it is I can't. When I bought the suit, I weighed 150lbs. Now I'm at 170lbs. Either lose weight or buy another suit. Next year, I'll begin racing and at that point, I'll be either light enough to fit well in this suit, or I'll buy a new one with the pucks already on it. I hope I answered your question.
  13. Last one of the year, and we were spoiled with the weather: 18˚C overcast. This was Jeff's first time on the track and he did extremely well. Judge by yourself. And I was there too. My favorite part of the day was on the last run, my clutch was slipping badly and I was still able to pass bike that were faster than mine. The white/yellow F3 is me about to be passed by the #881 and 65, but pulling away from the red 600RR 2 more
  14. 4 fingers? I guess they teach with a slipper clutch, don't they? How about brake and blip? To be honest, I don't believe modern sports bike need 4 fingers. . . you can and will(if abusive) lock the front wheel with 2 fingers on wet pavement, or with cold or hard tires. On a cruiser it is a different story. A handful of front brakes will be need on some of them. So, I imagine it is a generalization that led to this line of thinking.

    Wire In Tires!

Park your bike mate, I believe it is the steel from your tire coming out because the "belt" is breaking apart. You need a new tire. Haven't you picked up a vibration with that?
  16. I just removed to old paint from my 83 VF750. The Aircraft paint remover sure did the job. Brought it right back to to plastic and metal. Thanks to Sebspeed and Sparrow75.

    Old Tires

Yep, as mentioned above, new tires for sure. How old is the bike doesn't tell you how old are your tires. Check at the end of the DOT serial #, there should be a series of 4 digits at the very end. The first 2 are the week the tire has been manufactured, the last 2 represent the the year. So if you see 2606, it means the tire was built on the 26th week of 2006. If you have only 3 digits, it means the tire was manufactured in the 90's. 266 = 26th week of 1996. For a car, they say the maximum if 9 years, but tires should not be sold past 6 years. Personally, I replace my tires every year, but you don't have to do that to be safe. SG
  18. What are you talking about? You can select as many as you want.
  19. I will make a slideshow (and burn it on a DVD) of the trip when I get my computer back. I will give you an email address to end me your best shots (hi res please). Didit and Axel 7, I'd like to get the videos as well. Tony if you could mail it to me with the pictures you took, that would be great, Derek, I could pick it up at your place, I work in Langley (September) or when I go pick up my laptop this week, which ever works best for you. SG
  20. Ok, here are a few from my cheapo cam: B&B Thursday night and Friday AM. Potty Mouth, 10.7 Volt Terry, Sparrow 75 and I (Jeanne and I) stayed overnight We were the slow guys in the fast group. Who the hell is this guy? Nobody knows, but he sure can ride. The fast group with a few intruders ATGATT or is it Most of the gear some of the time? Drinking and eating, riding, eating drinking, napping drinking . . .a picture is worth a 1000 words Thank god, nobody ended up here. Another example of All the gear most of the time. Osoyoos. I got more, but I thought these won't be posted by others. SG
  21. Looks like Jeanne, Lee and Miguel can't get enough of each other. Humm.
  22. Ok, but you need to SEPERATE the vtec option from the gear-driven cams option. People either want gear-driven cams OR vtec - I've yet to see someone like them both equally - not possible to discern which one they are voting for. The gear-driven cams on my fifth gen are really too loud for my taste. Rode Rhubarb's 3rd gen a week ago and it had a much nicer 'under hood' sound. Also, technically I could pick 'fuel economy' as a reason for buying a bike these days as my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 gets 14mpg. sure there are plenty of other things I could have put on, but given the moment, that's all I could think of. The Vtec and gear driven being put together a faux pas? Perhaps, but my reasoning behind this was engine characteristics: Either you like the gear driven or maybe the vtec kicking in is what get your motor running. I apologize to everyone who wish I'd put something else, but like every poll, nothing is perfect, that's why you can add comment and weigh in your opinion. Having said that, it is fair to say that appr. 63% of VFR riders like a sport/touring bike with a V4 engine and a SSSA. Ok Honda, take notes here.

    Why A Vfr?

Just wondering why we leaned towards this bike. For my, it was the single sided swing arm and the undertail exhaust. I don't this to be a war of model, so you'll see answers that cover one gen and another such as vtec and gear driven sound - unique to certain generations and knowing that very little of us would choose the chain driven cams.
  24. Almost 600 downloads (596) and almost no feedbacks. I'm just wondering how many of you are using it. SG
