  1. Three weeks and $182 and the results are great. Sargent flattened/levelled out the main part of the seat, added foam to widen the butt area and made a dandy new cover with their DTX fabric and red trim. No more sliding onto my cahones, very comfy.
  2. Honestly, I never looked. I bought it directly shipped from DAM in Brussels, Very nice folks, helpful, so should be able to answer your question. I DO know that it sounds terrific. Fairly deep toned, nicegowl when revved, but not offensively loud. It reminds me of the Staintune exhaust on the Gen6; like a small block Chevy.

  4. I just shipped mine off to Sargent for a rebuild. I find the stock foam pretty good, but the cover is slippery (esp with synthetic riding pants) and the slope forward promoted sliding up onto the nose. I end up trashing my legs trying to stay positioned. Sargent will toss the stock cover, add their Atomic Cell foam in places, level, widen and dish the mid section, and cover it with grippy DTX vinyl. They expect it to cost about $300. Right now, they don't make a ready-fit "World Sport" seat for the newer viffers. I'll post when I get it back. Cheers pg
  5. It’s an easy installation, takes a couple of hours. All of the connections are already there, so it’s really a matter of connecting things. Most of the side fairings need to come off, then you’ll stare at the little controller box for a half hour until your brain says “aha!” You may have 20 or so of the included tyraps left over. Honda likes to truss up wiring like a thanksgiving turkey, just in case gravity fails. Pg
  6. Turns out it the furthest forward screw on both sides. Thanks for the help! pg
  7. I had more to do than an oil change. I installed the factory heated grips as well, which requires a lot of access. I removed the mid fairings, lower fairings, radiator grille, upper and lower inner panels. There are many black(ish) dome-head shoulder bolts of the 5x14 variety. Only two have shoulders that are twice as long as the rest. One would assume that these two would have to go through two layers of plastic, where all the rest through only one. For the life of me, I couldn't find such a situation. pg
  8. You're right, I never considered looking in the owners manual! Jaded I guess, assuming the service manual would be the definitive guide. I'll look tonight followup: the owners manual does not describe the screws. The parts fiche also does not describe the screws well enough to differentiate. Short of ordering screws and verifying the p/n vs. shoulder length, I think I'll just get over it. pg

  10. I did an oil change and some other maint on my 2014 last night. Yeah, the service manual drawings are rather primitive (as in cave drawings; apologies to the cave men). And Honda's choice of fasteners and locations not so slick, either. But I did manage use all the salty language I had allocated for the entire month in one evening, so that's something. So here's a question: there are quite a few black 5mm shoulder bolts with the big domed heads. Two of them have taller shoulders than the rest. Any idea where these two are intended to go? I assumed it was where there were overlapping layers of plastic, but couldn't really find any. I'll pay a million dollars for the answer. Or not. pg

  12. Morning, Grum. Sorry to intrude. I'm out pipe shopping for my 14 VFR, and really love the Ixil. Did you polish your headers, cuz they look sharp!

    Cheers and Happy Christmas!

      Hi pgeller.

Sorry for the late reply, but didn't realise you'd sent me a message.

Firstly I love the IXIL exhaust, so may people have commented to me about the look and sound, also they had to be compatible with the Honda panniers. I like their short and tampered finish, it shows off more of the rear wheel. Yes I occasionally polish the headers with a product called Autosol Metal Polish simple to use a works great, I like the way Honda have gone with the 8th gen in having the polished headers they look neat.

      Regards.

      Grum
