Cutting off the back of a reflector. Dremel diamond wheel in a drill press does the trick.

Baking apart the headlight unit. It's not an exact science, but about 200-degF (oven off) for 10 minutes is probably enough.

  7. "Only the product code"...is the whole shootin' match! The first set of numbers is going to be identical for every part that has the same basic function (i.e., "fuel injector"), and the last set of numbers essentially refers to the revision and subcontractor (generally "000" unless there are regional differences, colours, updates/revisions or subcontractor changes), so the MAIN part of the number that changes to indicate a different part specification is the middle one. That said, "PCA" isn't the normal product code for the VFR800 (nor is "PCB" the code for the Blackbird), so these are clearly some sort of special category designations. I would have to say that the part numbers probably don't tell us anything--except that the specification is DIFFERENT in some way (e.g., they flow 50cc/min more)... Ciao,

  9. You mean, apart from the bike self-destructing and exploding in a huge ball of flames? Nope! (Can't see why they couldn't make a 530-pitch (or 520-pitch) sprocket, though--both have got to be more common than 525...but why 525 in the first place? Of the VFRs, only the RC30/NC30 had an OEM 525-pitch chain, and those bikes used a different sprocket anyway.) Btw, you guys running sans lower chain guards: I hope you ride only wearing steel-tipped boots... (Ask Doug Polen and who else was it...Carlos Checa or Alex Criville?...basically any rider nicknamed "Limpy"...about the function of lower chain guards!) Ciao,

  15. Btw, I ordered a set of Predator headers for my 5th-gen last month. They were made by Predator (their stage of production was discussed with me after I had placed my order), but they came in a Motad box... Ciao,
  16. Delkevic is an "own brand" for major UK bike breaker/dealer/importer DK Motorcycles. DK is a bike breaker (salvage yard) that rose to prominence as a "Parallel Importer" during the 1990s and was one of the few to survive the implosion of that business model (they are currently official Aprilia and Kawasaki dealers, but still seem to dabble in "grey-imported" bikes and used parts from Asia). They developed their Delkevic brand within the last five years or so, mainly offering pattern stainless exhaust headers of debatable quality. A couple of years ago, they got into the aftermarket wheel business, apparently with some success. I was under the impression that the 17" RC30 wheel was already available? In any case, several people on the RC30 Yahoo Group have been in touch with DK about this for some time, and it is definitely coming. Due to the likely pinching of the profile, I would not put a 170-section tire on a 4.5" wheel. Ciao,
  17. I noticed that the photos in the original message were all missing, so I searched for them in the Internet Archive and uploaded them to a gallery, here: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.p...&album=4372 HTH. Ciao,
