  1. Just finished a 2300 mile cross country on PR4's. It was in the 30s and raining for most of the trip. One leg was below 30 in freezing fog, that got my attention. Mostly freeway but a brief technical segment on old Rte 66 between Needles and Kingman. 1. Tires held up amazingly well. Other than being well run-in, there is no visible wear in the front. The rear is a teeny teeny bit squared off. Mighta shoulda run the rear at 42psi instead of 40, I was riding pretty heavy. 2. Absolutely amazing stickum in cold rain. I don't think I could have asked the tires to do more than they did. Absolutely no indication of hydroplaning, although I kept it below 60 when it was raining. 3. Hard to say how they did in the twisties, I was carrying a lot of weight in the rear and the road was in awful condition. I didn't push it. (If you've been on that road, you know why) I dunno that I would choose this tire for aggressive riding in good conditions, among other things the wear pattern on the PR3's that the bike came with was really weird, leaves a high ridge of hard rubber that makes the bike really squirrely. But for the open highway, my jaw is hanging open. Just can't believe how well these things did.
  2. OK, replaced front and rear pads today. I did take the calipers off for inspection and cleaning, although it's way easier to put the pads in with the calipers in place. Way easier. Put the outboard pad in first, press it against the disc, and it opens up room for the inboard pad, it just drops right in. This is totally the way to do it, thanks op you just saved me a bunch of cussin
  3. ^There's a thing on the EBC website about bead-blasting or buffing the rotor prior to bedding in. The bedding in thing sounds like a good idea but I dunno about blasting my rotors, might be overkill for a boring old touring guy like myself.
  4. @CandyRed: Yeah at the the end of the day a programmable box is the best answer. Bypassing the 02 sensor substitutes one problem (too rich) for another (too lean or too variable) but it helps some I guess. Getting the map right would help more. But I will say this, I got my 30 cents worth out of this mod, so kudo's to OP.
  5. Question re auto-adaptive feature: what's the AFR target? Can it be user-specified? Per cell? --------- Does the bypass adapter work with the Evo? ---------- Does the Evo take a switch, to either switch maps or to turn auto-adaptive on/off?
  6. Very very few people I suspect have ridden the VTEC VFR the way Honda engineers meant it to be ridden. Coderighter, you gotta hack that ECU, brother. Meanwhile, I dunno, I've always been a carb guy, don't know nothing bout no fuel injection. But it just seems to me, this beast is too lean down low; it hesitates when you crack open the throttle and I think the overrun shutoff aggravates this. I do think richening things up will help, but that becomes a mapping issue and maybe the default map will work for you and maybe it won't. (With the idea being, by disabling the 02 sensors you are forcing the default map.) If it doesn't, you can go the Coyze route and make it rich AND smooth, or you can go the Coderighter route and try to make it perfect. (Referring to PC maps.) But I gotta think there are some ECU's locked in a safe somewhere in Japan that make this the best bike ever made. And dammit, I want one.
