  1. Bloody Nora! That is ridiculous for something that is not heavy.

Hadn't realised that they are just down the road from me, I might pop over sometime and see which postal service they use....buy me some shares in that fella!  :goofy:

Lucky you for being able to obtain one since you live in the UK. Knock yourself out.

Hey Skids just wanted to point out a few things in your signature area. Are you familiar with the term "Link rot"? I tried several links in your signature area of your post and there are a fair amount of them that no longer work. Just thought you "may" want to know? You also make reference (and links) to the "Powerbronze" huggers. I read on this forum (on posts made some years ago now) to steer clear of those. The statement was made that they're cheap and want to fall apart. The fitment was pretty poor as well. I did look at those and I wasn't that impressed with the look. So, I don't blame you for switching to a Harris Performance hugger. Sounds as though the Harris is a far better product.

Thanks m8, I'll remove the links.

The Powerbronze hugger is on my 1200 and has been for about 6 years. There may be better quality ones out there, but it's been fine and looks ok to me.

I hadn't thought about a hugger for my 01 so reading your posts made me think that I should get one.

I knew I should have saved the return email that Harris Performance sent me, but I didn't. Yep, it worked out to $307.65 USD. There's a war going on, the price of fuel has effected everyone in all industries and maybe Harris didn't want the hassle of boxing up that hugger and making sure it made it safe to the US. There can be a number of reasons why the cost is so high, but regardless that was the price they quoted. I should ask them to refigure that and I can show you. If I lived in England I would have one by now.

    Bugger.

On the upside, I think I may get one of those for my 2001 project.

  4. $308? It costs £85 without UK purchase tax (VAT) so roughly $112. So the rest, $196, is postage?

    Have I missed something?

Even if you went for the CF, that still leaves $144 postage.

  5. Is this the one you've been after?

Surely an arrangement could be made to ship to a willing UK VFRD member then onwards ship to yourself? As long as you met all costs and sadly that would mean paying UK purchase tax (VAT) and potentially US import charges.

    Just a thought.

So, still waiting for 3 vtec valve buckets ex Japan so the bike is still in bits on the lift, I’ve been wanting a top box carrier for a while as I’m using the bike to commute during the summer months and the ones in all the usual places (fleabay) et al are all to expensive, so I welded up my own design in the garage from scrap I had loafing around. When the bikes reassembled and dressed in red I’ll post up some pics of the box too.image.thumb.jpg.2913959b50c80a5feb7ca88ef0e5aac8.jpg

Great skills and looks great but beware, I bought a carrier similar in design to that and it snapped. I was cornering at something approaching a very high speed and it spilled the contents of my top box, and my top box, all over the road.

Hey Skids - not to hijack the header thread, but since you’re looking for a 5 gen to put headers on, I can justify proceeding!

I have a 2001 with less than 10,000 miles that will be for sale in two months (maybe sooner). It’s all stock except upgraded regulator/rectifier, never crashed or dropped, in pristine condition. PM me if you’d like to continue this conversation.

That's very kind of you m8 but i suspect the export /import and transportation charges would make it unfeasible.

Headers ($) + RB module ($) + wideband o2 sensor($) + additional wideband o2 module($) + performance muffler ($) + dyno tune($) will obviously make the most of it but the total cost is fairly high.

I was running an RB (no tune & no wbo2) but the RB shat itself, bike still runs better than stock in way of performance and fuel economy *.

If you get a hold of a set you can run it as is and add those additional bits as needed. I'm not sure about using stock muffler though.

*unless heavy with the throttle for sustained periods. This has been proven 😀

    That's 6 x $ signs! 😬

  9. I am looking for a 00/01 VFR800 5th Gen to buy and if I can find one I would certainly be interested in a suitable VFRD header for it should there be sufficient numbers to justify another production run.

What would be useful in confirming my wish would be to list what I might need to do to make the outlay worthwhile as 53 pages is quite a hefty task and some of the discussion is waaaaay above my head and I don't want to start something I am unable to finish with my limited spannering abilities. PC3? RB module? Any other engine mods? End can/muffler? etc etc

Awesome work though guys! :fing02:

So what are people paying for a (remote) flash?  Any difference between Sabsteef or Guhl?

BTW, just called Don Guhl, he said is definitely not flashing anymore, must be an environmental restriction issue.  He sounded angry, lol.

Well if Guhl isn't flashing any more, what difference does it make? If you want it flashed by Stef, you'll need to pay what he asks.

Best way to find out is to contact him on Arsebook. There's a link in my sig.

I know this is more than 4 yrs old, but did Guhl stop re-flashing?  His website says he does not do re-flashing for any vehicle with a VIN.    I found a number and will call tomorrow, but looks like he got sued or something.

If he has stopped, there's always Stef (Sabsteef) who can do the same thing as Guhl, but remotely over the internet so you don't have to remove the ECU and post it to him.

    Link in my sig below.

Fitted Goodrich speed bleeders and changed the brake fluid. Why hadn't I found these before. So much easier especially on the rear. Then did an illicit 50 miles ( we are still under restrictions in the UK) to check the brakes and explore the limit of adhesion.

Damn you! I've been holding out this week and it's been so difficult with the great weather.
