  1. Yes those are the faux carbon fiber mirrors (got them off of ebay - cheap). The stock mirrors are a little better quality (glass/mirror) and the stock mirrors stick out farther (giving a slightly better view, but I do not like the looks of the stock mirrors. I had the carbon fiber clutch/brake handles but upgraded to the Piazzo levers (much better). In a few years (approx. 100,000 miles) I plan on having the frame, passenger foot pegs and forks powder coated black. I hope to get another (additional bike) next year. More of a true touring bike that the wife can be comfortable on the back (ST1300, etc). With 2 bikes it will be easier to due upgrades and still have a bike to ride. Later, Mark
  2. Bought the Rim tape on ebay about 3 years ago. The seller is no longer around but there are several vendors that carry the stuff. It's very durable. Yes I would prefer the rims had painted stripes but this is very inexpensive and looks pretty good IMHO. You must be patient putting it on. It comes in 4 peices for each side. Below is a link on ebay that looks like the same as mine. It's so cheap I ordered extra. That way you will have backup (that will match). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel-Strip...sspagenameZWDVW Good luck. Mark

  4. The carbon fiber hugger is NWS. The carbon fiber clutch cover is Thurn. The clear signal lenses I ordered from service honda. To paint the rads black I used Grill / kettle paint (used for painting cooking grills). It's a flat / satin black, good to 1500 degrees.
  5. I've spent the last 2 months making some changes to my 2003 VFR: 1. Changed from amber lenses to clear turn signal lenses (also change all bulbs to LED's). 2. Also installed a carbon fiber (real) clutch cover. 3. Painted the radiators black. Here's some pictures. I think the bike looks great for 48,000 miles. Just to the North of Lee Vining is Sonora Pass. A lot less traffic. Done two rides to CA. Both after Labor day (this also reduces the amount of traffic). Crossed Sonora Pass on around Oct 1st. It was a perfect day. The next day it snow and chains were required. The Mountain Passes and senery in this area is beautiful.

    Big Bend 2004

It was made by NWS. I can't remember what company I bought it through. It's real carbon fiber. I think I paid about $240. I've been real happy with it. I like how it extends down low at the bottom. It keeps the rear tire from throwing so much crap on the shock, etc.

If those would have been Red VFR's the police would never of caught them.
  16. What's the comparison between a 6th gen 5 spoke and the 93 8 spoke? I would think it is not as great. The 93 8 spoke and the 2002-7 5 spoke are both 5.5 inch wide were as the 4th gen 5 spoke is 5 inch wide ( I think)? Just trying to justify going with the better looking wheel without losing much power. Thanks, mark
  17. Won this 8 spoke on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...019778&rd=1 Based on the going rate for 8 spokes I think I did OK. Now I have 3 rears (2 reg and 1 8 spoke) and 2 fronts).

  23. Just had mine in to the dealer for a couple of issues. One was I pointed out that 30A main fuse/holder looked burnt. When he checked my elect. system he said my RR was bad. Replaced under extended warr'ty. He then check voltages off/idle/ 5000 RPM etc. and they were stilll a little low. He ended up replacing both main cables/harnesses to the battery neg & pos.. This brought up to spec. the voltages. Good luck. Mark

Where / when. I hate to see that in my mirrors. I've had my bike for 3 1/2 years (40,000 miles) and been pulled over twice (77 in 70 and 66 in 60), both times they were fishing for more. When they see its an old fart 49 yrs young I think they cut me and my buddies some slack. Ride safe. Mark
