Honestly it's going to take a bit for me to be ready to start organizing again. Bike needs some work, been sitting patiently for the past 6 years while I was off skydiving and learning photography (both very expensive hobbies!) Always missed those rides though. Averaged 10-15 riders with a max of 33 that one time at ACH. Good times. I'll check in about late July probably...

Yawn.... <looks left, looks right, looks left again>. Back in the day I used to organize ACH-BigBear, Palomar-borrego springs, hesperia-crestline-idlywild and I think GMR twice. Oh those were the days. Tracking up 350+ miles on low-traffic back country roads... Yawn... <looks left again, sneezes, then starts washing the bike> Give me a little bit and I'll throw something together.

Thanks broshi! It's actually a 4 car I put up in the backyard. I took the first picture with my GoPro HD Camera. Didn't realize the picture would turn out like that. Here's one his mom took... most of my tools are on a 12' x 4' peg board just to the right of the little roll-away. Just can't help but smile when you see a kid all happy to climb aboard...

This is Matt, he's 5. While he and his parents were over for a pool party today I caught him eyeballing my 6th gen a couple times. Just before they left I asked him if he wanted to sit on it, his eyes got bigger than the national debt! I had him sitting on it and he was ear to ear grinning! Then... I asked him if he wanted me to fire it up. You'd swear this kid had just been told he'd won a gazillion pounds of candy! I started it up, had him lean forward and grab the controls, then let him rev it a bit. He was scared to even move the throttle at first, but then he cautiously opened it up. Bike reved up to about 2,000 and the whole time he was giggling and laughing like a little kid should! Made his day, and he made mine. Figured I'd post up the picture and story and see if anyone else had any little people stories to share as well!

funny this subject would come up, I've been reading up on radar detectors but my dilemna is I want one that I can use on the bike AND on my truck. I had contemplated the TPX detectors, but in a side to side comparision I found a better one but not exactly motorcycle friendly (ie. will have to mount it just like a normal radar detector, probably on the front windscreen). It's the Whistler PRO 78SE, and from what I've seen so far it's the latest greatest to get. I'll let y'all know how it works, and better yet, where I'm gonna mount the rascal.

It's the Micron Stainless. There's a couple of us on here. I might be the only 25th anniversary with one though...

The road conditions were not quite up to par yet, but still, we all had a great time and even had one member wear off his chicken strips! Clean road on the way up, not so clean on the way down the backside! The pace down the dirty side was very cautious needless to say, as gravel, pinecones, and an occasional squirrel kept the pack pretty tight. Once we got down, the roads cleared up, the sun was shining and we moved on to the river... on the road... We ended up stopping for a spell (smokers suck) in Lucerne Valley before gathering up and heading to Big Bear. The road was much nicer and Toddulu and I managed some pretty good footage off the GoPros. I'll leave that for Toddulu to post up later. After Big Bear it was off to the Artic Circle. BLECK! Gravel, water, rocks, po-po. The first officer I saw startled me and I quickly looked down at the speedo. 40. Um... Ok, not a problem. Continued a couple miles and the 2nd officer appears. Quick glance. 42. Trying to recall the speedlimit. Either 50 or 55. Yeah. Lunch was decent, unfortunately our beloved eating establishment has changed the food vendors it seems, as my double bacon cheeseburger was half the size as before. But I was still lucky enough to get my picture while trying to cram it into my thick cranium! After lunch Michaelf3 volunteered to take some action shots. Had to take him up on it, how often do you have a amateur photographer along for the ride with a 2-week old $5000 professional camera? With a lens that was as big as my exhaust can! So we played around, got some 'action' shots. Finally we headed back down the mountain to our origin point. This is where the fun began. I went from leader to leaded. I saw a red blur to my right, a red blur to my left, a red blur somewhere off in the distance... Then luckily for us we ran into some company! Nothing says sport riding than cruising with some guy on a green bike wearing a leather jacket... and shorts. Only in So Cal... I'm going to leave the rest of the story to the other riders, as Todd, Michael, Brian, and Kelly all ended up taking pictures/video. And since a picture tells a 1,000 words, with the 2 GoPros and a uber expensive camera, I think we'll end up near the million word mark!

I ran up to Crestline today to check the route. It had snowed this past wednesday at the upper elevations so i was concerned about ice/gravel. The 18 is good, but the 138 has a bit of gravel on it. Given that our ride isn't for another 2 weeks I figure it will be cleared by then... Here's a couple videos of some of my ride today... Nicely done as always Todd! I wasn't as fortunate this past weekend, ended up running on gravel, sand, and water. Kinda took the edge off... But no cars, no leos, and no clouds! sunny and 68! Just gotta love So Cal! Remember Vegas? lol.

shaynej, what software did you use to add music to your video? I've never done that, but would like to try if it's not too hard. I cheated. I uploaded it to youtube and then on the edit screen selected the audio-swap option. It gives you alot of songs that are usable on youtube without the whole copyright infrigement issue. Most of them are no-names but you can find a couple that are familiar...

how well does that work? Is it shaky?

I got a GoPro myself. The first couple runs I just used the suction cup. Just yesterday I mounted up 4 different hard mounts and headed out. The mount on the front screen seemed to vibrate too much. The mount on the tail also vibrated but even worse than the front screen. I mounted one to my helmet but it caught alot of wind noise... I don't know either. Just going to use the suction cup for now until I find some alternatives. This one is the suction cup facing backwards, still vibrates over bumps but not as bad as with the hard mounts...

Wow! What an awesome response! Thanks to everyone who responded! I'm now forced to decide amongst the numerous choices... Seems I've heard quite a bit about the Pinnacle 14 Ultimate and the Sony Vegas Platinum. Both seem to be close in price ($80 vs. $90) and both seem to have the features I was looking for. Thanks to everyone who posted up sample videos and a big thanks to Miguel for not only posting a video but quite an assortment of pictures of his gear as well! Tough decisions! I think I might have to take a ride to clear my head! I'm going to look at altering my existing mounting options and see if I can find a more stable position. Guess this might have to take a couple more trial runs! I hope this helps out anyone else who had the same questions!

Yes it was. This was the first video I made with the goPRO and basically took the suction-cup mount with an extended arm and stuck it to the windscreen. I've since learned that the arm can cause some vibration and it's best to use the adhesives and avoid the suction cup mount. I'm still learning! Will be analyzing the bike for best location points and adhering the adhesive mounts before running this weekend...

thanks klinquist, nice vid, exactly what I was looking for. I like how you put Rammstein in a German car competition! Nice touch! I took the liberty of updating your post to make it easier for others to see what you did as far as editing... thats the kind of editing I'm aiming for...
