  1. Dan had to put his family first :( sad for us, awesome for his family. However, he told me he sold it, so lets hope something comes from it. Anyway, thank you again dan for making my viffer 13 years younger :)
  2. I suppose this one went ahead and died, courtesy of dave dodge... This is really sad. This is surely the most interesting mod ever ever documented, and documented well by a guy who really raised hig hopes for mankind and the vfr... so so sad...
  3. Whooooooo :) things are comming together i take it :)
  4. So now we are back on track? Did you get any pics of the welded heads? Also i wonder about the spesifics of the came work... weight reduction? Balanced weight? Anything done to the gears? Did you get the weight shaven of the flywheel?
  5. I am always hungry for new education, and rarely say no to a mod with something to show for... I feel pretty educated by this thread, but i just dont see why i should even consider doing this to my train-wrecked vfr still lying dormant in the barn, or the super-charged one standing on its own two wheels? Is this what we call a healty persuit of undiscovered HP, or just the first signs of un- treatable boredom? Please educate me further :)
  6. Still very curious about this awesome HP-hunt from an engine who are sucking its own air :) Was up???
  7. coderighter So i guess my sweet 1998 vfr will be left out of the pcv experiment due to the lack of o2 sensors? Would be this years upgrade, as last years upgrade was the dyno run with the PCIII with the supercharger kit...

  10. Yo. feel free to put me in the customer showcase department :)
  11. What's really amazing here is we're only pushing about 10psi (without an intercooler) when in general with these superchargers you need ~15psi to double the power. I'm almost tempted to turn up some bigger crank pulleys and see if we can crack 200whp... Would the belt fit if a bigger crank pulley should ever be made? :) :) :) Anyway, i was thinking , when in the future i am going to rebuild the vfr i have laying around, to look into the possibilities of lower rotating weight , cams, other injectors and maybe the "stage 2" with water injection... Anything on the drawing board Dan? ;) We do not have anything added or taken out of our fuel. if you want to buy e85 (bioethanol/fuel mix) i guess one would have to wait some time as it is on its way as far as i know... but i really cant se why i should switch to that... On the dyno i ran shell v-power 99 octane ron, but i fill her with unleaded 95 ron for the most part. No additives of any kind cause there has never been signs of detonation, and no power gain, at least not noticeable. When mentioned, what do you think about this Dan : e3 spark plugs Is this just long life sparkies or could there be something to it? What about the "permagap" ngk (if they where made with the vfr thread size) Any toughts?
  12. Now, here is the evidence... Red line = pre charger install. Green line = A&A Perf. european charger map. Blue line = Custom map. I had the dyno recorded, here are my compilation of the goodies

  14. After trying different maps, and having Dan custom make 2 maps via e-mail, i finally found the time to run a dyno for some realy spot on adjustments... The numbers went from 156.6 -> 183.2... pretty ok one should say :) I dont have to say that the gained ponies does kick... Let the summer begin :)
  15. Im sure you can see what this is. My toughs are of course more flow to get those extra top ponies. What it did to the actual perf. I dont know as this was done some days before the kit arrived and was already stripped down... ill try to get some more pics up when time allows it.
  16. I have what sounds like the exact same behavior, and it feels definitively pretty rich down there. Cant wait to se what another one of Dan's supplied maps will do to heat, mileage (down by 30 % something) and the before mentioned stumbling when king winter withdraws... I have also bought the OEM fan from the vtr, but will also try to make some kind of air duct system to force airflow in between its front legs
  17. Respirator fitted and running for the very first time
  18. OOOHHH!!!! GALLERY HELP Did i say "if i only knew..." I meant to say, if i only had the time to wait for my big pictures to UL. I had the first test run, fixed some bugs, and had my first wheelie below 8000 rpms ever on my black girl, and might i add, this girl has grown some serious torq down there. Im still in the break-in fase of this, so pics and more info will come. BTW, any one having 7'th and 8'th gears for an 99 VFR lying around? Ill just start from the top on this one: From the very start, with my head deeply buried inside the brown box this came in, this just smells like perfection! This is just very well thought through pre- and during production. Bravo Dan  The installation took me around 12 hors all in all, some minor mistakes, and disassembly / reassembly of parts had to be done. Some items needed the Dremel for sure, because the japanese did not make all of them 100 percent alike. Now, after saving my old custom map and loading up the one for the charger, it made its first sound. Wow, you can really hear the difference from stock gas pump! 1 sec on the start button and the 4 force-feed cylinders just starts up and runs! Perfect, no stumbling, no restarts, nothing but good! Goes without saying, but after the tear down of th TB, the starter-valves could do with a synchronization. Now it sounds like a twin when idling You can really tell the stock and the charged vfr apart. It now has a deep sound with some belt noise going well with the cam-gears. Throttle response is excellent to, and the good old shaking from letting the clutch out on low rpm's has never been better. Speaking of clutch, you really cant tell the stock springs apart, i have ridden my 1100xx alot lately, and my vfr is a WHOLE lot better in that department anyway. So, even though it was bed time 4 hrs ago, i could not go to sleep now anyway. Now here comes the thrust, or... Nope. keeping it below 6000 rpm, with no more than 1/4 throttle, it runs just a bit more self secure, there is positively a difference, but it is so extremely rideable, and so non frightening that i had to ask Dan a couple of Q's just to make sure it is supposed to be this harmless I thought that i only had these 100 km's to make the break-in right, so i waited it out, gentle as i am. 130 km's in, i let it loose... 1'th gear, just gone, 2'd: power wheelie with a good dose of ignition cut (yes, it came faster than i was expecting), third: i need a steering damper, 4'th god damn... it just no more road. Good thing i had new EBC brakes on all wheels, cause nothing can stop this one now. And the rideability is just better than stock. going slow on the gas, and just making it run along up to approx. 6000 is just as good as it can ever be. Going further, with little throttle makes it feel a bit lean on the mixture actually, but twist a bit more and it just comes back. This is just the best time i ever had on any of my bikes. And it just feels so, so very very right. There is no sign of the bike not handling it, the feeling i have is just that this kit just adds what the bike never had, or should have had. It feels like it will just continue to be this good forever, strange as i know my mechanics and what force feeding an engine with this kind of compression can possibly do. There is no weak sign, it does not feel like anything is on the peak of what it can take. Having only about 250 km's, i have no doubt or second thought about taking her with me to Italy for a 6000 km ride, with bags and girls and 2 bottles of octane booster for the road. Now that i have found my time to UL some photos of the install, i will try to attach a few (big, takes a lot of time!!!) and see what goes wrong. Any one in doubt about this small modification? just stop it, the bikes design can go for many more years, but it needs an engine from this century, and Dan have the solution Gallery Image Link Oh the details Just had to be done! So, i did not manage to attach the images somehow. Read the help files, but there is nothing here. Click image tag button on the left, copy and paste url in my album folder, and then nothing? Not compatible with Firefox? DSCF4933.JPG Tried editing my post and clicking the pics in the gallery post tool, did so in both firefox and explorer, still nothing... At least the charger kit works flawless
