Where are you coming from? Looks like Friday night/Saturday morning.

Let me know when you're in town and what day you plan to be there.
The Cleveland show is decent. I shifted the main reason for going from seeing bikes to shopping for gear. Last few years almost all of the helmet mfgs have been there with a full line up, offering pretty nice discounts (33% off). No race leathers yet, but I'll be looking for a fresh pair of boots and gloves.
Honda, Ducati, KTM, Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW are typically there represented by the MFGs. Everyone else is dealers bringing in bikes if they even have a presence.

Audi has done good things for Ducati in terms of reliability. But I would hardly compare having the R/r go bad the same level of unreliability as finicky electronics that will leave you stranded or high-maintenance valves. Then again, nothing like the murmors I hear about the MV F3 675, which people recommend changing valve springs every 2k if you are doing track or agressive street riding.

Maybe. Usually decide that weekend. What's bringing you out this way?

Outside of bike-thieving heavy areas, this works really great. Heavy car with a honkin big, heavy engine helps keeps the front wheels planted when moving two bikes. 27mpg (US gallon). (Mostly because Y2KVFR maintains his trailer).

Just change the concept from 'project bike' to 'abused bike shelter' and all of a sudden things are ok!
Looks pretty good. Check those fluids and filters, and let her rip

I had oil coming out of the exhaust on a VF500C. There was a hole in the piston and busted valves, so oil free to flow out.
That is highly unlike with the VFR750, but I would do a compression test to make sure things are ok.

I can understand not everyone wants to own a truck, but over in europe, everyone is towing a trailer with their little sub-2-liter engine cars. I put a hitch on my 3000GT and towed a pair of motorcycles no problem (among many other things) and still managed 27 mpg, which is better than whatever SUV or truck I could have borrowed.

Hello and welcome. 5th gen is a fantastic bike.

If she likes it, that's just the thing to get you infected with MBD.
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the link on the pressure gauges. I have to pick up a good one soon. Oddly, most accurate gauge I have is the one built in on a 12V portable tire pump out of an early 90's conversion van. Matched up perfect to a MotionPro gauge.
Street pressures is usually the stated 36/42. Drop a bit to 34/40 sometimes. But I'm slow.

I know someone with a spare 4th gen VFR. And I know someone who has made a VFR street fighter or two, who may or may not be selling it (legitimately don't know). Have him build you a VFR to your spec. How much more exciting would that be?

Good thing he had the good miata with the extra sturdy wheel fenders.

The UK podcast Front End Chatter episode 64 did a short interview with John McGuinness covering some racing and post accident stuff. Worth a listen for the winter blues. It starts towards the end.

For 5th gen (and probably 6th gen), 1098 works better. For 4th gen, 848 fits with mismatched parts. Have to consider wheel/tire clearance on the 4th gen, which was meant for a smaller wheel than the 5th gen.

I really like the paint job.

Don't bother with Dunflops, they tend to cup badly after just a moderate number of miles. +10 for Michelin Pilot Roads. Went to PRs after many miserable years with Dunflops on my 95 VFR. Will never get anything less than PRs in the future!
I've had two sets of dunlops. One came with one of the bikes, one I put new on the 4th gen. Both front tires cupped. But I think I got around 8k+ on the 202s before I replaced them. They were cupped pretty bad, but I didn't really know since I was just commuting to work and riding slow at the time.
I was really happy with the Pirelli Rossos. But I was also trying to more sport riding than touring. The GTs are meant for all-round riding.

In regard to the oil, you cannot run 'energy conserving' oil in a motorcycle with a wet clutch. Most auto oils are energy conserving. It's a circular shaped symbol.

Lean angle, check. Body position, ......not check.

Scratch all that. something with my browser.

You got it. There's a piece of plastic in the hose. Pull that out and you should be good.

Nice find.

was pretty sure I posted this already, but I guess not.
Not your 40mpg, but pretty sure it would still win in a drag race with the trailer attached.
