Forum CEO HispanicSlammer 889 Posted May 21, 2006 I think I have been there, thats the road that takes you to Bandelier right? Quote Link to comment
Member Contributer Zia Rider 0 Posted May 22, 2006 The Valle Grande is between Los Alamos and Jemez Springs. Bandelier is closer to White Rock but all in the same area. I really enjoy riding the loop from Albuquerque thru Jemez to Los Alamos and then back to Santa Fe and Highway 14 Madrid and Sandia Crest. They have finished repaving the crest road and it's nice and smooth. Paul Quote Link to comment
Guest tonyfugere Posted May 22, 2006 That's a great ride on NM4 and nice sweepers down NM14 before tightening up the turns up the crest. NM4 heads over to Bandelier (coming from ABQ, San Ysidro, Jemez Springs) after you leave the Valle Grande area just after the intersection of NM501 (which goes through Los Alamos). Looks like that area was on fire recently. Good to know before hopping on the bike for a spontaneous, 4-hour ride. http://www.wunderground.com/wximage/viewsi...HER#slideanchor "Crews spent the night working on containment lines for the Capulin fire. It's causing a lot of smoke in the Bandelier Wilderness Area about 23 miles west of Santa Fe. It was 15 percent contained Monday morning and had burned 50-60 acres." http://www.koat.com/news/9253000/detail.html Quote Link to comment
Forum CEO HispanicSlammer 889 Posted May 22, 2006 Yes I have done that Jemez springs loop to Bandelier 3 times now, its fun, I took video of it last summer when we went to the vintage races at Sandia, I took the guys through there on the way back to Colorado. I want to head futher south to the cloudcroft area, silversprings I think next time I am in NM. Thats what I have not done yet. Quote Link to comment
Member Contributer chillidown 0 Posted January 6, 2007 It is funny how we can recognize something. Heck, I'm from Ohio and have only been to New Mexico once, but when I saw that picture of you standing next to the bike, I thought, it's got to be that volcanic crater on Rt. 4 in New Mexico.
