Member Contributer Marvelicious 171 Posted September 20, 2019 Man... No particular comment on the report, but if it were me, I'd block out the address and phone number. Quote Link to comment

Member Contributer RC36B 53 Posted September 20, 2019 Hi, What do you compare to - a previous report? Well - guess my question is if you have an old VFR engine how do you know if values are within limits - it could be some bearing is already going bad if you dont have a "reference point"? The "universal average" - I assume - is some odd average for loads of different engines? Quote Link to comment
Member Contributer MaxSwell 1,217 Posted September 25, 2019 I have only sent one sample. I imagine their process is designed to measure an engine over time. So my results lack any historical comparison. And I was unaware of the ability to measure engine wear prior to this. But it does inform my decisions on oil changes and Honda's recommended 8,000 mi oil changes. A goal of limiting my use of petroleum is balanced against my desire to help my machines last as long as possible. I also assume there they have an idea of what sort of wear an average engine can take based on a large amount of historical data. Quote Link to comment
