The Meritt Resevour area is famous for it's dark night-time sky. I was there during a new moon. Starlight was so bright, the Milky Way cast a shadow on the ground. Astronomers from around the world had a sky party during the new moon in July. Happens every year during July or August new moons.

Sweet! Two picnic tables to boot! Did the conditions allow for a camp fire? No city bright lights to drown out the stars in this neck of the woods.

When motorcycle camping, I've never had a camp fire, for several reasons. Fire wood is hard to get on a bike, I've come to see that recreational fires are polluting, and I've come to appreciate the darkness.
