Veefer800Canuck 937 Posted February 13, 2012 Aha, the infamous "fumes" ride. Just how far can the Grand Poobah's Old Girl go without a key? At least we didn't have to push it! Quote Link to comment
Forum CEO HispanicSlammer 890 Posted February 13, 2012 The funny part is when BR came back with it we all assumed the key was somewhere on the road, the truth is it was revealed later was that the key fell out of the ignition and got lodged under the tank. It came out when I crashed in the mud on the next rally I went to, the Kansas meet. Lee found it laying in the grass and said "whats this" and I just started laughing! I should have listened to BR cause he said it felt like the bike was pogoing a bit, turns out the ohlins needed a rebuild, after 70k on it the pneumatic preload ring was shot, and it needed a shock oil change internally. Guest sfarson Posted February 13, 2012 Ahh, still fine memories. Hey, did I read somewhere there is another Summit Meet this year, or is this thought from a dream one night? Gore Pass... Lunch in Oak Creek at the Cantina. Miguel's bike is "on" at the moment. Rather than let it idle and overheat, we hit the kill switch and unplugged things. In retrospect this probably preserved enough fumes to make it to Dillon. All I remember is Kevin passing me south of Green Mountain Reservoir opening/closing his hand. Later on I learned it was to note the low fuel light was blinking! Pics of Twentymile Road where we thought the key was lost. The last two pics made the book for the Twentymile chapter... Baileyrock 842 Posted February 13, 2012 I think I was at this one! :-) My first time on a m/c in CO in over 20 years at a great VFRD event and I'm limited to one tank of fuel! Sorry ride group buds!!! Quote Link to comment
