Steve
I've just removed my fuel cap for cleaning in an ultrasonic bath, and am thinking about repainting it while it's off. Has anyone done it? What steps did you take? I'll post some before and after pics too.
Steve
Well I didn't paint the cap in the end. Completely dismantled it and put everything through an ultrasonic bath (Pint jug of water, drop of washing up liquid and two cap fulls of methylated spirits). found loads of salt corrosion on the interior parts. Once through the bath, it was all dried off using an airbrush (connected to a compressor), oiled and put back together. now working smooth as butter.
