Normal Amount Of Transmission Slack

With my 2014 VFR on the center stand and in first gear, I can rotate the rear tire more than I expected. I can rotate the rear tire about one and half teeth on the rear sprocket. For reference, I can only rotate the rear tire about one tooth on the rear sprocket on my ZX7R, and it has over 30,000 miles on it.

I know some play in the transmission is normal, but I caught an ugly false neutral between 5th and 6th the other day, and now it seems like there is more throttle snatch in between up shifts on the 1,2 and 2,3 gear change. I also notice it when I roll off and on the throttle in first or second gear. I don't really notice it in the twisties, but I'm sure I would if I got a little ham fistted with the throttle.

Is what I am experiencing trouble brewing, or am I hyper-sensitive to the differences because I only have 1600 miles on the bike?
