Just wanted to report on the 2011 Miracle Ride. Great cause and well organized event especially for as many bikes that were there.(5k to 7K 95% HD). This was an escorted ride of 45miles through town to Motorspeedway to Riley Hospital ending at Indiana Live.

I assumed it would be a layed back nice ride for my wife to go as she is timid of riding. I assumed wrong. It was I drag race corner to corner. Having to get in the vtec to keep up. Hitting speeds of 60 to 65 in 30 mph zones block to block with bikes a few feet from each other. At the Motorspeedway a bike crashed head-on into the end of a concrete barricade. Condition of rider unknown but it looked bad.

I did not enjoy the ride due to being constantly in the throttle or on the brakes. It amazed me and made me nervous.. Luckily my wife was a great trooper about it and stayed tucked up close to me. This is the first event I ever rode and probably the last at least with pillion. It was great charity event and very well organized but they need to slow these Idoits on HD's down. Anybody can twist throttle to hear their pipes but this was not the place. To many people and risk.

Did you see my cousin, Susan, there? She rides a white Ridley with a pink flame job and wears a pink-trimmed jacket and pink helmet. I know she was planning on attending.

Probably not to many bikes. Took a hour just for everybody to start out of the parking lot. I was on a 07 anniversary with all blue fairings

Um, yeah. I was thinking more of "Topeka sized" not "Indianapolis sized". I suppose she would have been just another bike in the crowd even if you did happen to see her.

I was there along with my brother. I'm pretty sure I saw you (at least the bike). Were you fairly close to the front and to the right side of the parking area as you faced the stage? By fairly close, I mean about 50 or 60 rows from the VIP staging area near the stage. Handlebar conversion?

I agree with all of your observations. This ride was extremely dangerous in my opinion. Waaaaay too much speed on crappy city streets with alot of very inexperienced riders waaaaay too close together (they even continually announced that the organizers wanted everyone to "stay tight", not smart in my book). On the way to the casino, we pulled out and left the group and rode by ourselves once on the interstate.

Now, having said all that, scoring triple digits going into turn three at IMS was AWESOME!!!!!!!

I rode in the Bikers for Babies ride several years ago, a charity ride for the March of Dimes. Pretty much the same conclusion as you, too many bikes and not enough experience. We went on a ~70 mile ride, I witnessed 3 wrecks, in addition to the 2 bikes that ran wide in a corner and into a ditch (across the opposite lane of traffic). And those where only the ones that I saw. It's a great cause, but I, like you, won't be attending again.
