Faulty R/r Symptoms?

Ok. I still cant figure out what wrong with my VFR. Every time the "FI" light comes on, its usually heading to work or heading from work to somewhere and never comes back on when I get home so I've seen been un-able to pull codes. That F'd up isn't it.

Here about faulty R/R's, but what are the symptoms of a faulty one? What happens to the bike when it happens?

I got a digital volt tester. What setting do I put it on to test the R/R?

If your FI light comes on, it stores the code, you can retrive them. Don't think that the RR going bad would trigger the FI light, probably a bad sensor.

I've tried 5 times to get codes and it never works. The first time it would just blink continouly ever 3 seconds. The other time it would do anything.

One or more of the following:

- Battery does not charge and needs an external charger every time;

- Battery boils and overheats;

- Headlights and all other bulbs blow;

- Smoke comes out from under the fairing.

Whew!!! Dont have that. Thats good.

Check out the battery, the R/R, wire from R/R to alt, and the "earth block" and everything seems to be ok.

Finally got a code going off. I'll shoot some video.
