I need a new cooling fan as the old one is warped and wobbles, I am noticing similarities between the fan for the sixth gen and the fan for an Yamaha FZ1 or R6. Does anyone know who manufactures the fans so I can get more info about this? The Yamaha fans are significantly cheaper and if I can buy one and put it on the VFR that would be great. I am not talking about the motor but the plastic assembly with the blades the motor turns. See the two ebay links below: Yamaha FZ1: https://www.ebay.com/itm/386589503647 PAG30 written on fan Honda VFR800: https://www.ebay.com/itm/276154135140 PPG30 written on fan Yamaha R6: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256379216886

Hi all so have had my first vfr 2001 5gen for two weeks, and been reading all the r/r issues So looking to find out how to add a cooling fan and also if any one else has added hose running from the front of the bike to the r/r to help cool it? Hose idea I read on a form but the links are now gone. spoken to my mate which was a honda michanic and now a ducati one. So his answer was how long dose a light bulb last, or if its not broke don't fix it which I understand his fought process. Only thing is I don't want stranded in middle of no where. I do have a mosfet rectifier which I got of the newer cbr600rr and have the triumph part no t 2500676 subharnes and the 30amp fuse, so I could do the hole change of the r/r but I have read many mave had same issues with that set up as well. So am looking for ways to cool the r/r before I go doing the r/r change

Hi All, The last couple times I started my bike up I've noticed my radiator fan kicking on which seems really odd. About a minute or so after starting the bike the fan will come on for maybe 10-15 seconds. The engine clearly doesn't need to be cooled as the gauge displays just over 100F. It's been in pretty cold ambient temps around here, in the 40Fs, but I don't see why that would cause this. Other than that the fan functions as normal, comes on at 220F. I'm wondering if you all could give me some insight before calling the dealer. I'm real reluctant to do that, but it's still under warranty. Maybe the ecu does some cycles on startup and testing the fan when it's cold out is part of that? I also made a similar thread in maintenance/electrical but figured this would get more traffic. Sorry if making two threads offends anyone. Thanks

Had a scary moment today, bike generally seems to run a bit hot but it actually overheated today because the fan never triggered on. Wanted to get some thoughts on potential causes/things I need to fix. So here's what happened: It was about a 28C day today, "feels like" 35C with humidity (according to Weather Network). Took a 20-minute ride down the highway in the city and then pulled off onto a downtown city street. As I pulled off and went from 120km/h to 70km/h, the engine temp gauge was indicating about 105C-110C, which was odd because at highway speeds on a summer day, it'd usually be in the high-80C's or low-90C's. I just shrugged and thought, "well, it must be a hot day today." As I was stuck in stop-and-go traffic, the gauge kept on creeping up, but I attributed it to being a hot day. Then the gauge crept up past 120C, then 122C, and then the overheat indicator light came on and I started getting scared. I was stuck in moving traffic for maybe another 20 seconds, and then hit a red light, so I cut the engine ASAP and coasted to a stop. The temp gauge kept on creeping up to 128C, and so I bent my head down and confirmed what I thought - the cooling fan wasn't running. I turned the ignition off, waited a couple seconds, then turned it back on. Immediately, the fan started running. I think after about 10-20 seconds, traffic started moving again so I started the bike up and rolled it down the street at about 30km/h, but as I did, the temp gauge pretty quickly (~30s?) dropped down to 119C, and then down to about 115C. (this is kind of a panic-blur in my mind, to be honest) I pulled into my apartment garage shortly after (maybe 5 minutes after the bike first overheated), and after pulling it into my parking spot and cutting the engine, I left the ignition on so the fan could keep doing its work. After a few minutes, the engine temp was brought down to about 110C, and at that point the cooling fan stopped spinning. I tried turning the ignition off and on a couple of times, just to see if the fan would start again, but it didn't. If I recall correctly, in the past, the fan would continue to run at 110C until it got it down to below 105C. Even at 110C, after the fan stopped running, I could actually hear the coolant boiling and bubbling. The right fairing was also very hot to the touch. As the temp gauge dropped closer to 100, the bubbling simmered down and I didn't hear much anymore (as expected). So, all that being said, I'm planning on bringing the bike into a shop tomorrow and getting them to do the following: - check/replace engine temp sensor - coolant flush and refill - replace rad cap - check for any signs of overheat damage visible Is there anything else I should be aware of, or get the shop to do while they're in there? Is there a way I can get the cooling fans to trigger at a lower temp just to be safe? Thanks all!
