Yo Viffers Long time lurker, first-time poster. Saying hi. On my 2nd Gen 5 and i think I am going to have a few more over the years to come. Honda engineering at its most impressive, if a PITA sometimes. Anyway only posting this in anticipation that i will be needing some of your help with my todo list. 😃 I WILL get this bike running as good in traffic as it does flat out. ✔️

Hi All - First Post. I've had my 2005 6th Gen since the beginning of the year. I haven't had a bike for 10 years or so prior to that, but always liked VFRs and was pleasantly surprised how affordable they've become. I'm loving my bike so far. I bought my bike from a private seller with 32,000 miles on the clock - bike is nice and clean and seems to be completely unmodified apart from R&G fairing protectors. I haven't ridden much until recently due to lock down, but have enjoyed working on the bike and getting it the way I want it. I inherited the previous owner's charging problem, "The Drill" and the vast amount of knowledge here were very helpful. My problem was a burnt stator but I also changed the R/R for a MOSFET one and added a VFRNESS and a voltmeter. Now gives a consistent 14.4v throughout the rev range. Fingers crossed. My question is about VTEC transition - or in my case the apparent complete absence of any noticeable transition. Having had a 10 year break from bikes, I'm taking it easy and progressively building more confidence, but am now getting more confident using more throttle and revs - from everything I read and particularly with my bike being a pre-2006 VTEC I was expecting a noticeable, disconcerting "jolt" at 6.7k rpm when the additional valves start operating, but I haven't noticed anything. The bike obviously starts pulling much harder at 7k+ and there's a noticeable change in the exhaust sound, but no "jolt" that I can notice - just a nice smooth linear increase in power. I conclude that either the VTEC transition "problem" has been massively overstated - or my bike has been modified by a previous owner (of which there have been several) to smooth it out. I read that a Power Commander is the favoured way to smooth out the transition - I've had both front fairings off and I see no evidence of one there nor under the seat - but I haven't had a need to remove the rear fairings - not sure where to look for a PC if there was one. I have noticed though that both 02 sensors have been disconnected and replaced with blank electrical connectors ( I think with resistors in them but haven't put a meter on them to check). No complaints at all about how the bike runs. Would be very grateful for your thoughts - is VTEC Transition simply not a big deal ? Or have I been lucky and a previous owner has sorted my bike - and if so what might they have done ? Cheers Matt

Groetjes (Greetings) Hi there chaps and chapesses. I’m an English expat woman living in The Netherlands and in Just over a week I’m swapping my Triumph Speedmaster for a new (2017) silver VFR800F. The bike has surprisingly sat in the dealers for three years but is brand new. Ordered it with bar risers and a large top box. I’m very excited. This will be my second Honda in all my years of riding. The other Honda was an SL125 from 1975. (Showing my age now 🙁). My other bike which is a keeper is my Suzuki VStrom 650, on which I rode solo to the Nordkapp last year for Cancer Research UK.

Hey guys, just picked up a 2004 Vtec model in red with 55,000kms on it. Been riding a weapon of supermoto for the last 2 years and finally decided to get something a little more refined for longer rides. Since purchasing her, I've done all the usual mods as listed - Staintune Pipes - Delkovic Headers - Pair, snorkel and flapper mods - K&N High flow air filter - Techspec Snakeskin tank grips - Power commander 3 usb - Some nice sticky Pirelli Diablo 3s - Stedi HID headlights - Clear indicator lenses with switchback LED indicator globes - Fender eliminator The bike is running so nice and smooth now and boy does it sound good. Time to find a nice set of OEM colour matched panniers and put down some serious saddle time!

Hey! I'm Laura from Phoenix, AZ and I ride a 1990 Honda VFR 400. It's actually my dad's but he gave it to me earlier this year and I decided to get it fixed and running. The problem is that I've had a rupture eardrum last June and I'm still feeling the effects of it to this day. My ears have been very sensitive to wind noise even with my helmet on. I've tried foamies but they make my ear canals swollen. I've also tried the self molding ones but they gave me an ear infection. That's how sensitive my ears are nowadays and it sucks! I'm thinking of getting a pair of earplugs like the ones in this video but I'm still looking for something a bit more cheaper. They have other types of earplugs from their website but I like this one the most. I'm open to suggestions and recommendations so just fire away! Thank you all in advance.
