  1. Confirmed your BB should be on the way soon from Travis Just got off the phone with Ken, I meet up with him tomorrow. I will order the bearings and seals over the weekend. MotoSports is supposed to call me Monday to confirm that they have the parts for your warranty work. Man, we are getting close! Did you order your MagKnight tank protector? Also, did you want frame sliders? If so, we need to order them quick, they take awhile to get across the pond. Also, did you want to powdercoat the passenger or rider footpegs and mounts? (keep in mind that the stuff next to the rider pegs will remain silver - so you may want to leave them silver; the passenger pegs might look cool, though.) Take a look at pics of my bike if you need to see what I am referring to. One last question - we are going with the GOLD, correct? Just double checking.
  2. Right on!!! Making some good headway here... The wiring is all done, the voltage is steady so far, and I need to charge your battery from testing so much I will trickle charge it over the weekend, I have a really good charger. Got a lot done... the front cowl is all set and mounted... the grips feel solid (but I need to change out the Progrips for the ones bought you - so you can see if you like them.) Calling Wera in a few to see if I can hook up with him tomorrow to drop the parts off. All is set at MotoSports to do your warranty work. I might ride my CBR next week and loan you my rims off my 07 to speed up the process (since your rims and my spares will be in Athens getting coated.) Still have not seen your tires, can you check on them? Moddin the tag (The 08 sticker took me hours to put on!! Check out the loom wrap on your heated grip wires - that should keep them safe And the other side all wrapped up Moved the indicator for the Kissan headlight modulator Chromed bulbs.... sweet! Installed Right Plain clear blub They look like this when on New signals on and working! Dark View Close up They look like this when the power is off (in the dark) With the flash
  3. Sweet, another oil thread... and all three MODS are here too!! How much trouble can we get into? Where is fixxer So I was at the dealer getting the 4K service done and asked for synthetic in the 07 VFR... and was told not to worry about that now because synthetic is "too slippery for such a new bike." I told them put it in there anyway. The same guy recommended synthetic for my CBR (which does not even have 20K on it) when I took it in for service!! I usually stick to the book on oil changes... but some are changing more often than I. Is there a reason to change more often? I don't ride that hard most days  WHOA!!! who changed the line under my avatar? SWEET!!
  4. That's a good point... Butch, you need that kind of thing? I know Travis was having a clearance sale of sorts....
  5. Hey... what up with that The electrical gremlins were there BEFORE I worked on the bike... I just chased them down and killed them
  6. Well, the bike has looked better, but I think we are on the home stretch! >Electrical gremlins are now gone >Gotta re-do the power for the grips >Waiting on the bulbs for the turn signals (I got silver bulbs that shine amber) >Trying to find a nut for the indicator light for the headlight modulators (planning to ditch the electrical tape and perma-mount in the fairing below the voltmeter) >Waiting on the mount bracket for the Garmin (on the tank bolts... bought the bolts yesterday.) Wheels and Pazzos are ready to run to the powdercoater. I can have the bike back together in a few hours (once I get all the parts.) In the meantime... I am putting a serious cleaning on this bike.... Until all the junk I ordered for my new CBR shows up Here we go... Bike does not handle well for some reason... could be the really small tires Stuff for sale!! (Just kidding, Butch ) Front end all done! Travis wanted to see the clearance on your hugger... so here it is
  7. I tried the gloves and hated them... my hands slid around too much in them. I just wear thick leather and use the heated grips. I think over the last year I have become winterized I tried on a pair of the Gerbing G3's and will agree with you on the sliding bit but last weekend at the cycle show I tried on a pair of Powerlet gloves. They felt much better like a standard pair of gloves in my opinion. Ohhhh.... I will have to check them out!!! Thanks!
  8. I tried the gloves and hated them... my hands slid around too much in them. I just wear thick leather and use the heated grips. I think over the last year I have become winterized
  9. Using safety wire arount the grips (usually in 3 locations - ends and middle), will hold everything in place as well.
  10. Hey HS, give this a look... Heated jacket liner. I have one and it's really nice (although, I rarely use it.... not until it dips below 25 degrees - which is not often in GA ) Still, a nice liner with neck warmers built in as well
  11. I ride all winter... unless we get snow (like THAT happens in GA!) I do the grip heater thing and have Gerbing heated pants for anything below 25 degrees... over that, I wear a set of Dainese winter pants and the liner for my Dainese Zen Jacket. I have a full Balaclava for the 30 degree or lower days and a half Balaclava for the 30 to 45 days. I wear thick socks, jeans, long sleeve shirts as well, but that's about it. I am good for up to 2 hours with no break in that gear... we'll see how old I have to get before I can't handle it anymore I just got a Gerbing heated jacket liner for this season... can't wait to try it! So far the coldest I have seen is 13/14 degrees.
  12. OK, so after 300 miles in the mountains.... I gotta say I LOVE the Pilot Road 2CTs!!! No, not as much as the power 2CTs, but close. I don't have the ability to use all of a power anyway - or a road for that matter... but both inspire confidence and feel solid everywhere I took them this weekend. We'll see how many miles I get out of them, but I really don't care (that's why I have a second set of rims and rotors.)
  13. oohhh.... how about some curb feelers?
  14. Now she's all dressed up with new shoes and nowhere to go! I put the Pilot Road 2CTs I bought on today... but it has not stopped raining long enough to try them out. The have 8 feet as far as mileage goes right now So I changed out the added breaklight I had for a newer clear one and added a license tag frame... still not sure why I did that, but it turned out ok... Finally, here are better pics of the heat troller for the heated grips
  15. It's getting colder... so I added my heated grips and powerlet (for my Gerging stuff.) I loom-wrapped the wires from the Dual-Stars to keep them safe and added a heat troller. Now my hands are toasty
  16. Well, it all got rain-tested for about 45 min yesterday on the way home Everything held up well and no issues from being wet! I also want to say how impressed I was with my Dainese Zen jacket. It's just perforated leather, but I stayed almost bone dry for 45 min in the rain. A few drops made it through the perfs here and there, but overall I was dry. Same for my Arai Vector helmet. Not the first time I have been wet... but the first time in this gear. A Dainese Zen jacket with a G2 back protector saved my skin and spine last april. The jacket is still wearable (with some street cred now) but I replaced the back protector as I landed on it after a 30 foot "flight." It looked fine, but I'm not taking any chances. Anyway, the Zumo and Whistler did just fine in the rain
  17. So I finally got off my butt and mounted the new bracket. I need to get a new RAM ball and drill new holes... or just re-drill the new one ( the angle is off just a hair (see the pics.) I also added my fuse block with a harness and wire loom from easternbeaver.com - which are worth every penny! Now my stuff comes on and off with the bike I also added a powerlet - cold months are coming! I ride year-round with the help of my Gerbing gear Still need to get the heated grips rolling, but the wife was frowning my way after I spent all afternoon riding yesterday, then all afternoon today working on Butch's bike and mine. New bracket - Factory bracket on the left Liquid Electrical Tape to protect the back of the fuse block Tapping the battery leads - easternbeaver harness with relay and 30amp fuse The fuse block and wire loom with unused leads for future mods! Where to? So much blue! Full night view
  18. OK, powder coating is pushed back a week as the factory recall needs to be done... dropping the bike off on Tuesday (I think) to get it done. In the meantime, the gauges showed up yesterday and I got the bike back together (just in time to go to the shop) this afternoon. Butch, what do you thing about the gauges?
  19. OK, so I stripped all the junk off the extra swingarm and mount that I bought... 1.5 hours of work! I was gonna do more, but it was PERFECT day in GA today. My daughter called and needed more clothes at her grandmothers... so that was the perfect excuse for me to practice weaving in and out of traffic all the way down to Mableton (from Canton.) Once I finished that task, I saw bikes EVERYWHERE, so I just HAD to hit the mountains for awhile I even saw a red 4th Gen on Hwy 20 near my house in Canton. (who was that?) Anyway, I am just about ready to send all this stuff off to the powder coater, which will seriously up the black level on this bike. It's gonna be fun to rip a swingarm and mount off... that's why I bought extras. Anyone got any pointers? Will the engine fall out when I pull the swingarm mount? What do you guys use to strip the wheels? I was gonna strip the wheels and swingarm... but now I think it's easier to pay someone to deal with it. Wera, did Butch decide on a color? If so, as soon as my rear PitBull mount for the VFR gets here (should be later this week,) I am ready to powder coat a bunch of stuff. I was gonna mount my sliders and heated grips and powerlet today... but it was too nice to be working on a bike, much better to ride!
  20. I like the really dark gray on the RWB 07 rims... so I think I'm headed down that path. A candy apple red pinstripe on that color would be sweet!
  21. I was using an Escort 8500 and just used mounts on my bike and my buddies. I can send you a ZG with the mount already installed if you want to check it out. The mount is here and looks like this... The windscreen I have is for a 6th gen (can't remember which gen you have) Guess I could check your siggy.... <_<
  22. OK, so the gauges came back and now the whole dash is blue (except the tach.) Nothing new for me... did the same on the last bike... but didn't have the radar detector. Check it out...
  23. Sweet... thanks! He wants to get the warranty stuff done before I add the VFRNess... but I will post pics when we get to that point. Thanks for taking such good care of me/him! When are we doing the wheels and tires on that thing?? Any idea what color the wheels are going to?? I'm about ready... I have two sets personally to do... Butch has one. I think he wants gold... but we should confirm with him. I'll PM you shortly with my cell I also have a swingarm and mount... can they do those too?
  24. Sweet... thanks! He wants to get the warranty stuff done before I add the VFRNess... but I will post pics when we get to that point. Thanks for taking such good care of me/him!
