  1. You are correct. The CB600F is a smaller diameter USD clamping area than the forks I am using. Patrick at I.M.A. can bore the clamp diameter to the 50/54mm specs needed with no issues. He has even found a set of tapered bearings to suplly instead of the ball bearings that they provide as an option. The stem diameter upper and lower is 26 mm and 30 mm respectively. Will my VFR all balls tapered bearings work for this? pics and dimensions next week for the forks...
  2. Gilles wants $1400 for that triple set? Even worse, Honda wants $700 for a set of Hornet triples?? :comp13: Gilles US distributor wouldn't work with me on pricing, their current price for the RC51 adjustable upper and lower triples with the steering stem was quoted at $1,383 USD. I was drafting my ok to order email when I clicked on the link Finn36 had psoted and contacted that group. They are cutting the triples with 40 mm of offset and 50/54mm diameter so it is not quite stock CB600F but they are working through the details with me. I should be able to order when I get home from Chicago on Friday and then it is about 4 business days to delivery. I can hardly wait. I was agonizing over the issue of running non-stock geometry and now I will not have to do that. :bliss: I may even pop for the Carrozerria wheels now. :fing02:
  3. Exchanging emails with Patrick about the CB600F triples and stem....looks like I have found my stock geometry triples for roughly half of what I was minutes away from droppng on the Gilles units!!!!!!!!!!!! These are not as nice as the Gilles units but that saves me $700 to put towards the 848 wheels and rear axle... :fing02:
  4. I will share any information that I can measure and quantify for my VFRD brethren. I am in Chicago training for my new job now but will be home late this week (in time to go to the MC Show in Greenville this weekend). As soon as I get a price for the Gilles triples and steering stem and confirm that I want the ones for an RC51 SP1 I will be able to take all of the measurements that anyone wants. My rear brake assembly is on the way. It is an RC51 master, braided stainless line, caliper, and hanger bracket for less than the cost of the braided line new. :fing02: I am still looking for a donor Ducati rear axle to cut and fit as well as a set of 848 wheels....a different bracket will need to be fabbed to connect the rear caliper but I am hopeful. I will post up my fork length when I get back. And order the springs and Racetech gold valves for the forks...busy 83 days until I show up for TxMac....prolly have to rock the old school paint and get that done at the end of the season this year. Kevin is doing a great job on his, might have to steal his VFR1200 clip on idea.
  5. If the Duc triples work with just a change of the steering stem, then I will squirt a few tears for you. I turned down an amazing buy on a set of Ohlins forks for a 1098 because the clamp diamters were so different that I didn't think I would be able to find proper triples, stems bearings etc...
  6. 1200 clip ons, nice score Kevin...I am still trying to translate the french site...
  7. My link Anyone over there who may help with any knowledge of the company? Any VFRD'ers with experience with them?
  8. Investigating a set of these My link now...if the eccentric in the top and bottom can be "reversed to bring the front wheel back under the bike...
  9. Yeah my rear is a little higher, I am back from the show in Orlando and looking to gather some parts....SP1 Lower and upper? What do you think after measuring it with me Kevin?
  10. Holy kitty crap Batman! :excl: I knew the Chinese were using 9 year olds to make their cheap stuff....I just didn't know they were allowing them to drink on the job. I hope you can get a replacement part because I think they are happy living off of the 20% restock fee and never actually selling a kit...
  11. Thanks again for coming by and helping with the fit up. Your parts (and your help) were invaluable. :fing02: I wish I had thought to snap a few pics of the mock up with your triples and front wheel in place... Let me know when you get ready to bolt up and I will be available to help.
  12. Good feedback so far Scot...

  14. There's actually quite a lot you can do with the demo version of the Tony Foale program (and the instructional videos that go with it)... www.tonyfoale.com/suskin/MotorcycleSetup.zip www.tonyfoale.com/tutorials/mc_setup/ Give them a whirl--and if you like what you see, order the registration key! Ciao, Thanks for the additional info. I will goof around with the demo this weekend and let you know how it turns out.

  17. sweet, can't wait to see the new body work...
  18. Would it not be more useful on our beloved VFR's if it allowed you view the stator wires as they turned brown? :goofy:
  19. Yosh, with only the keys in the background for a reference on size and my feeble mental faculties... WHAT THE THUNDER IS THAT? is it a stack of steering stem bearing shims? what are the holes for? does it require a face pin spanner to install? Looks top notch whatever the application.
  20. Nice job on the spacers Seb and excellent score on the Convertibars...
  21. Of course Seb! Ben's dad may be able to help out. He has been ill recently and hasn't had a chance to look over the drawings yet but with 102 days before I head to TxMac i am hoping for some good news from Ben soon. got it Kev...I will talk to you tomorrow.
  22. Kevin, I will give you call around lunch tomorrow to check your saturday schedule, if you have time to come over, i would love to borrow your stands and test fit the forks with your triples...or we could meet somewhere in ATL. I saw that thread on the wheels but really like the look of these. OZ Forged.png a little spendy but...pretty light Safe-T thanks for the tip on Tony Foales program. I will pm Larry and see if he has time to plug in my numbers after I gather them this weekend. I saw TimandCass write up am trying to have some triples built as well but running into $$$$ issues. approximately $4,ooo is the quote from three sources...still the way that I would prefer to go. got a lead with Ben (Talldrinkofwater) here and he may have some good news soon, fingers crossed.
