    VTR1000F 05

    From the album: my VFRs

This '05 VTR was my ride till trading it for my current bike, a white '09 VFR800A. It was my third VTR since 1997 in between the various VFRs. Who knows if it will be my last.

    VFR750 92b

    From the album: my VFRs

In the fall of 2004 I bought this '92 VFR. It had about 40K km then and when I took this shot in early '07 that was up to 70K. By then I had stripped the paint from the fork legs, painted the wheels white (originally silver), added Y2K mirrors, fitted the UK market graphics, and added the very same Supertrapp can I'd had on my '91 10 years before. After 4½ years and 55K km I sold it and bought my 3rd VTR1000F. I see a pattern forming.

    VFR800 99

    From the album: my VFRs

This bright yellow '99 replaced my stolen '98 VFR. Visible is the Yoshimura RS3 can and resprayed wheels, the rear an 8-spoke 3rd gen. Some eagle-eye viewers may notice the silver painted heat shield by the right foot peg. After 4 years and 90K km I sold it and bought my 2nd VTR1000F. Clearly, yellow is the best VFR colour ever.

That is a fine looking bike, nearly a twin to mine. I have found that washing gets the loose dust & dirt off. For excess chain lube Honda Spray Wax does a good job. And it also makes them easier to clean the next time. WD40 on a rag will get the really stubborn chain lube & road tar. Commercial wheel cleaner can help with stubborn brake dust. Personally, I prefer white wheels but agree that they are a lot of work.

I didn't like the 5-spoke wheel on my '98 VFR and it doesn't look any better on my '09
