I think I'm rolling the 92 on the lift for it's next round of upgrades, so if you don't get an answer soon I will have one for you.

My 92 has the cowls on it right now. Do you not have access to the wire harness side plug?
Or I suspect it has been modified or missing...

Look up the Bio-Blade a VFR800 running on methanol with CBR1000R fairings
Stray's bars would spoil any chance of putting that cowl any where close to that placement. That's a big part of this latest discussion.

For me, the best looking bikes have the top of the headlight about where a line would intersect extended from the top of the tank surface / angle. Look at some of your favorite full-faired bikes and you might see a similar relationship.
That CBR800V4 faring would not be able to stay where it is with your bars.
Gonna be real tough to find the right combo.

The VF1000F Bol d'Or could very well get the headlight in the right height/spot and give room for higher bars.

(an old shoelace works well)
A shoelace!!! Fuckin' good idea. I'll take that as my Xmas gift.
I also pump the piston out a tad to better expose the potential crud ring

Cap'n,
My VTR uses vacuum to begin the flow...not sure if the VFR does this also?
And, the VTR is susceptible to vacuum issues as well.
I think you may have skipped a step when reading this thread.
- OP has bad VFR petcock
- OP comments on how XX is the same base as VFR
- My comment that the VTR is same part # as XX to widen search (that's it)
Also. the vacuum operation is easily deleted. I do it on my 500 Interceptors.

Nice parts list. Now get going!

Um..... no. Video has the production value of a local appliance or mattress store.

HIGHLY doubt it. Pretty different architecture.

I'll pull the carbs and clean up the o-rings. The carbs were allegedly cleaned by the guy who had it before me, but I'll double check that. Thanks for the help!
I really think that's a good plan. You will never have to worry about the cooling o-rings again and you will know for sure the carbs are good. Then you can confidently move on to other things if you still have some symptoms.
About 1% of "the guy"s out there can do a proper carb clean and setup on a V4, but you never know.
Also, I have part numbers for the all the cooling system o-rings in FKM/Viton from a vendor I have used over a dozen times at pennies on the dollar if you want. Also for the carbs.

You probably should have pulled carbs so you could replace all the coolant system orings and go thru the carbs, which it really sounds like it needs.

So in 24 hours you diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, learned how to get to the problem, received the parts, and put it back together?

How was it before you took it apart?
45 degrees should not be a problem for properly set up VFR.

At a base level, I have a Broad Form Liability Policy thru Dairyland that makes me legal for any bike I'm on, whether I own it or not.
Above that I insure some bikes thru Allstate. They also have my cars and house, but the bikes are a separate policy from Auto. I can negotiate a value with them that includes custom parts and accessories, and covers all of our gear.
Everyone will have a story and these companies are still for profit, but for the most part Allstate has been decent to deal with when problems arise.
When I worked at the Honda Shop, dealing with Progressive was the worst. But that was 30 years ago, so that review is pretty much irrelevant now.

Yoshimura. Full system, 4 into 2. There are not exhaust tips near the license plate.

do you have any advice on how to get to that assembly from the fully assembled bike? Not sure where to go from here to get to it.
Download the Service Manual and find out.

Welcome to the forum.
Wow... you have owned a lot of vfrs,.. Nice. What has been your favourite gen so far?
Up til now, it's obviously the '95. He's been chasing that feeling thru a few VFRs. 😉
That's is a great list of past/current bikes. Welcome!

I keep going back to that CBR650R fairing too. The CBR800V4 rendering is based off of it I think.
But, in real life like Mohawk's pic, the area for the bars (like at full lock) seems a little more open. And with the headlights so low and angular, I think this could be mounted forward and high enough for your bars and still look the part too.
Worth investigating more I think.
