With the Givi on my third gen being mounted so far back (stock givi rack), I sometimes wonder if truckdrivers have a clear view on the tail lights. I think this mod does not just look good, it is a great safety feature as well :unsure:

I feel you pain. Broken bolts are a real PITA, broken extractors even more. What I do before using an extractor is first pound the remains of the bolt with a driver just to break the oxide between the threads. After that I drill a small dia hole througout the remains of the bolt and put a similar diameter piece of roundbar (e.g. a stem of a worn off dremel grinding stone) in the dremel, place it in the hole I just drilled, and let the dremel spin at max rpm. This heats the bolt up nicely and through the thermal expansion the oxides btween the threads gets crushed. All this makes it easier for the extractor to get the remains of the bolt out, and less chance for it to break.

I chose to use the diode and resistor method for sending both a lower voltage parking signal and a turn signal to each of the wrap-around LEDs.

Too bad the camera does not capture the wrap around LEDs working in sync with the signal light very well, but it must look real cool when seen by the human eye. :beer: Maybe add a small vid?

Givi E45 on a Givi topcase rack (pics in my gallery). Usualy not a problem as I hardly ride fast, but on the occasional autobahn stints, at 100mph the VFR starts to wag it's tail a little, getting worse as speed increases.

Nice :blush: I want something similar for my 3rd gen to keep the topbox from shaking at higher speeds.

A "local" paint store has a lot, not all, of car and motorcycle codes programmed into their paint mix machine that spits out rattle cans.

...and to those who strap a fan on an R/R, that's the best thing you can do to extend the life of it.

Better yet, relocate it to some location where it gets a continuous stream of 'fresh' air. Doesn't even have to be cool air, as long as it can transport the heat away from the RR.

Ducati acts a lot quicker than Honda as there is a recall for the 1098 & 848 that has charging problems due to an overheating regulator/rectifier. The RR is located close to the exhaust and the fix is that the RR will be replaced and a heat shield put betwen the RR and the exhaust pipe.

The Euros are so damn paranoid about EMI I'm surprised they arent required to wear tinfoil hats.

Like Rad describes in this howto, you have to check whether the PO controller does not get EMI from the bike's electronics as that will screw up the oil delivery. We are ourselves almost immune to EMI as we eat a lot of healthy iron rich food that makes your body almost into a faraday cage :fing02:

So far I’m very happy with it. I believe chain life is more dependent on keeping a chain clean, crud and grit free, more than anything else.

:huh: Keep the O/W/X/Z rings clean & lubed so it can keep the grease inside the chain longer.

Future plans: I think I will route the visible white/transparent delivery tube inside a black slightly larger tube making it completely unnoticeable

Because it is such a carefree setup you will likely forget to top up the oil container at least once. The tube being transparent enables you to notice the air bubbles in the system as a reminder. Maybe add some soot or graphite to the oil to get a darker color, but first ask Pablo if this may in some way be harmfull to the pump.

Have you noticed that once you have found a setting that works your staying on that setting? I guess I'm wondering if the controller needs to be up front.

I only temporarily change the setting when it is raining or riding on a dirt road.

I heard Garmin finally also offer the map updates to be downloaded instead of shipping them on DVD. Sounds good as my experience is that shipping takes months :fing02:

I posted some pics of the taillight in the fifth gen forum => click.

I think it looks good on the silver VFR, OK on the blue too but (when it also has the clear front indicators) but not so well on other color VFRs.

Not sure how this will look on the third and fourth gen. Maybe on the blue third gen ('93, with the silver bellypan) and turqoise 4th gen.

It doesn't go well with red on any generation.

Next years 1000cc V5 VFR will run on tapwater.

And this time no photoshop The Gimp manipulation :goofy:

Saw this ad of a 4th gen with some ducati 916 plastics up for sale. I have no further info but I think it looks pretty good and thought some of you would too.
