  1. Sounds like you are in the same boat as I am with my 94 that has been dead solid reliable, just needs the "fair wear and tear" stuff replaced. Generally same issues. I have found OEM stuff at the online mega-parts sites, but quality mechanical parts (fork kits, chain/sprocket, clutch slave cylinder, etc). I scan Ebay but am not educated enough to know quality vs crap new and which used parts are worth the risk. Frankly, I don't trust myself to do the work anyway. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for the insight. I appreciate it. I'll definitely check the classifieds and reach out. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  3. Definitely doing it myself is in the near future. Time is always the issue...but then so are excuses on my part. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  4. They are 5 years old with roughly 2000 miles in them. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
  5. I always tell her, I'd like to met her dad because she is too cute and too smart to be mine! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks for the sage wisdom, true on all accounts, and I will definitely look at better apparel ASAP. I have been contacted by a member here not too far from me offering to do all the work needed for much less than a shop. May also have a line on bags, and other accessories to make her the sport touring machine of my dreams. Thank you all! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. Well, feeling the passion from around the world is exactly what I needed to get reengaged. I do love her, and what she offers in a chaotic world and in a bond with my teenage daughter. Thanks for the pep talk (and slap in the face)! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks Ace! A little tough love is probably what the doctor ordered! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. Well, I've had my 94 since I bought in '04. It turned 80k miles on the test ride and I have added less than 10k in 14-years. But I also am not great at maintenance and she now needs forks rebuilt, new chain and sprockets, and the latest, loss of clutch pressure and actuation. I know it will cost a few hundred $ at least but I just don't know If I'm up to the task of owning a "classic" bike, but I know I'll regret selling her if I do. There isn't a bike on the road that stirs my soul like hers when she is in top form but there are much better "every day" bikes too. I had hoped the latest VFR800 would make me want a new VFR but "meh." I know the longer mine sits, the more she will deteriorate. I'd love to "restore" her (though she isn't that bad for her age) and add Heli-bars, and panniers, etc, but even finding those are harder and getting pricier. I'm getting older, shoulders aching, Hell, I guess her and I are kind of alike, doing our best to she gracefully, but could use a little more TLC! I bought my daughter a helmet and riding gear just last year trying to instill the passion. Anyway, I guess this was just VFR therapy session to vent but I welcome any perspectives. Thanks for listening! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. Well, I'm not sure how to post video so here are a couple pics. It sounds fantastic! And my daughter thinks it looks and sounds "BA"... because she won't say Bad Ass! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. I'll post video today! I'm pretty excited. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks! I got her done! Minimal blood given. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. Hello. I just received my 14", oval, stainless steel, hi mount Delkevic slip-on. Fitting the pipe is easy but I am befuddled about how and where to attach the mounting strap. It appears I will need to remove the rear footrest and mount the steel bar. Is this correct? This also looks to require cutting into the plastic fender well. Please let me know if I am off base. I'm trying to knock this out before I have to leave for a month on Friday. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  14. I had the battery recharged and full last Friday. I took it for about a 1/2 hour ride. Then Saturday another half-hour or so in it died. I do want to replace the battery for sure.
  15. Good Morning. So, I did a couple checks this morning. First, Battery is of course dead, 7.69v. I removed the R/R and checked both directions on both leads. Bear with my ignorance but when looking at the connectors I had it in the shape of a "U," two up top, three on the bottom. When checking the left/top I started with black/round top, red on the three bottom. The readings were: 1 / 009 / 008. Reversed the connections and it was 531 / 010 / 009 (seems wrong to me). Then I tested the right side. black top, red bottom three = 534 / 491 / 492, reversed = 1 / 1 / 1. I suspect the inconsistencies listed indicate a bad R/R? It will run perfectly when being jumped but as soon as the cables come off it dies. I presume I can check the stator when it is jumped? Unfortunately I can't find my shop manual, I'm sure in a box somewhere from the last move. Thank you all very much. For your help.
