  1. So long as there is plenty of fluid in your res to cover the little hole in operation you should be ok... i removed the fluid res from handle bar with a new small plate on top yoke bolt and a new pipe to connect. Race style... Mind you, also using a cbr radial caliper for the now 929/954 forks....
  2. Thanks, handy tips..... Now adjusted....
  3. No testing this weekend... isle of man is flooded out right now.. lol That Vyrus bike is hot The water pump is not on yet, but smaller oil cooler on the right next to oil filter now fitted. Very impressed with lithium battery allways 14volts! massive standard batteries are falling by the tiny lithiums feet as they die in the cold shed over time. Am sure the COPs take a while to warm up also? More so than the original coil and plug set up. lots of popping when on the heat too. Just needs a proper ride really.....
  4. yes, the fans gone.... now approx another 2 kilo lighter! Had a small water pump arrive this week so will hopefully run the engine a touch cooler when plumbed in.. Still need to tinker with my temp guage as its not reading anything yet... Same as the reserve fuel lamp...
  5. There in and running....... After 2 mins start-up hiccups... full power rev with throttle became no problem to find.... Track time this Saterday will tell if things are up to spec. Sounds spot on...
  6. Thurn stuff is good.. I am using/trial fitting a smaller rad from a monkey bike on a 4th gen right now.. as i want a reposition. A loop of the oil cooler pipes was on the cards a short while back and still might be yet once i have plumbed in the electric water pump. These have been noted to keep the water temps down further. So hoping it might promote further cooler running oil??? But agreeing with a similar thread oil cooling to the head sounds attractive. It is narrower and has an extra row, so roughly a similar size/volume to a standard 4th gen oil cooler. The hose line holes are 2mm smaller on entry and exit, unlike the rc51 items mentioned above which are slightly larger. Its been in 3 different positions this month but am still not 100% about it still. Have also thought that a 2mm smaller diameter might cause pressure problems.. but am thinking it can only increase pressure. If pressure is too great the oil pressure valve should give relief. So no problems there right???? I can only assume there might also be a slight change in oil levels to fill the larger oil rad and hoses? A decrease in my case as am using a touch smaller rad. Track time is coming up in 2 weeks, just hope i am happy with the next trial fit as its the only part slowing me down right now.
  7. good point.. any one try the vfr800 cops? Edit: am all wired in now with cop's, just starter motor to finish before oil, battery then test em out...
  8. The slipper clutch was very easy to install. Especially with the help of a hand held battery hammer drill for easy center nut removal/fit..(Disclamer- no sorry you have to do it the proper way with that silly clutch tool) £579 + VAT if you want one. Get from me, delivery is next day. I spoke with the guy who runs Sigma on Friday as a mate wanted one for his VTR. He was in Spain at the moto GP and informed me he has stock ready to go when hes back this week. Full factory back up so no worries if there is a hiccup!
  9. Well, yes today a stage further. I have the cooler fittings ready for clean up and paint. The original pipes were cut and shut. Altho now i think i made a big effort over nothing as the fittings into the original cooler might fit into the head and can be used once persuaded to bend in the correct position. Another day, another quick trial fit? After pulling off the starter motor, i found access a lot better. Will clean some of that grime off before the next stage. A quick test fit. Just tarting things up now really. A little scotch bright and silver spray should clean things up.
  10. If this is in fact the case, shouldn't this mean this mod is possible on the VFR, and should be fairly easy??? Thats what im hoping! Soon as oil cooler pipes come back shortened and rewelded to help fit different shape oil cooler, can get these COPs tested.
  11. Yes, most important is the decent spark.... Is there another solution other than fan removal to fit the front COPs? Considering removal of the plastic guard between carbs and frame, so carbs hide behind lighter rad only. Then add the snorkel again, if if gives better power...? Only the dyno will tell there. But the option is there again unlike before where i had 2 coils in the snorkels place.. Soon as loom turns up only time will tell if i have to revert to standard coils. Even when i do plug her in this week i still have a clutch to add then the oil, then tinker the main loom before testing. Especially checking the fuel reserve light as it was temperamental before. Essential as i intend to run the bike in endurance races. Maybe some1 else will jump in before me with them running? So far things are looking surprisingly good. (except no window on my clutch )
  12. running hotter? how about bigger rads? if running the fan all the time then where is the rescue cooling when stationary etc? under normal conditions theres minimal risk especially for looked at specials
  13. why not? you always have your expansion tank to tell you how hot things are.. if it starts to steam and boil.. stop... simple. wont happen unless in mostly town riding conditions. Thing is you have to be on the case all the time. Take your eye off the ball and things can get hot ...only if you leave your engine running unattended or going nowhere.
  14. fan is history... just waiting on a blade loom to chop, then plug her in to test.
  15. With cop in and rad pulled back down sitting on the rim of fan, it is 25mm from the bolt hole to the fixing support arm on the bottom left of rad. OK new fixing bracket anyway. The fan blades still hit the cop by about 10m first so will want a trim of at least 25mm as well? Not sure if am happy about wheel clearance now either. Am thinking either go with standard coils hidden up front... or Remove fan.. not like am going to be touring anytime soon.. saves cutting shit up..should leave me with space for cops then..am sure fan only ever came on in the hottest of weather and when in built up traffic for long periods and combos of both..warm yes, traffic no. Less bodywork means better air flow... hmmmmm perfect excuse to get on with that water pump who dares trim some fan tips, make a longer rad block arm.. maybe trim some more off the front fender? Its a close call with rad sitting forward so....
  16. same here... spose i should pull my finger out n try em...... edit.. As expected... no fit... fan is in the way.... Remove the fan??? i dont see any fans on the hrc manual for the rc30 rads.. might b ok with an electric water pump keeping things moving when stationary? Trim the fan blades? trim the fan surround also? Any smaller cops? these are just over 3cm proud of the head. Would like to do a dyno run with and without the snorkel. I have my front coils here in place of the snorkel at the moment. At least with the rear coils gone i can slip my battery in their space. Its a start
  17. so will a Honda cbr929 cop loom/fittings work fine on the the Suzi cops?
  18. If I have seen further it is by standing on ye sholders of Giants. I. NEWTON 1675 Works for me also...
  19. So would you suggest all modern gsxr coils are the same? 600/750/1000/1300? As for some silly reason the Honda versions are twice the price on the second hand market... edit: just found a pattern coil maker that lists all the gsx as the same model ref for replacement. model ML503, same for all 600-1300 gsx 01-07(no idea if up to date) cross ref. SUZUKI 33410-35F10 33410-35F00 DENSO 129700-4150 129700-4510 129700-4180 129700-4580 ATPA ML503 They use the same cross ref for Kawasaki ones also ML503. The Honda ones all have model no. ML504. Maybe that is to do with the difference of length?
  20. Cool, yes i did, thanks m8.. Hope to test fit cops myself soon. Shame i dont get to do the mileage as i used to, living on an even smaller island now. Originally Bristol based myself, left over 10 years ago... Started as a dispatch rider in the city thru the 90's- good days and cheap fuel
  21. Are they 100% necessary for the COPs or will my current plugs do?
  22. The maths looks sound to me....am gonna give it a go.. What plugs do you use?
