  1. I.D. This Ignition Switch?

You are correct, I just looked at the wiring diagram in the back of my service manual and the 1000r is 6 wires, do you know if the cap with the writing will come off with out damage?
  2. I.D. This Ignition Switch?

Looks like the one I just used on my 1000r
  3. I called them last December and they told me they are not making an exhast for my 85VF- 1000r , seems like they are on the way there after all! Well at least the first step any way, beautiful work though!$1000 cheap for what you getting!
  4. New here

Yea I was looking after I mounted the muffler and it just didnt look right ,,,so in the band saw it went! Seemed like the right thing to do! The hindle is fairly quiet was surprised when I started it for the first time!

So I was on E Bay looking for some parts and I saw a vintage Hindle 4 into1 exhast system on the site, I let it sit for a while and saw the 80+ people watching it, after looking at the pictures of the corrosion on everything I decided to pass on it, Fast forward, I couldn’t help my self so I hit buy it now, after receiving it I was pleasantly surprised as the pipes were nickel plated and the muffler was just dusty, so I had the header ceramic coated in black and polished the muffler and am very pleased with the outcome, it’s my vintage bike so I wanted the vintage look, not a carbon fiber modern looking exhast,I think it looks great! I also bought on E Bay a right rear foot peg bracket and cut off the peg and contoured it so it’s the muffler hanger. Sorry to those who were watching the auction, You snooze you loose! I may sell my stock collector and the F-1 mufflers at some time not sure yet?
  6. Need advice on purchase of 86 VF1000R

Really?? a tad high? ,find me another one that nice I’ll pay double that ,,I looked for over two years and all of them had issues or were rusted beaters! The mint stock exhast is worth a grand!

Thanks for all the kind words guys been a labor of love !
  8. New here

Just finished some touch up around the mirrors the rest is stock ,new demon sports and front fork bushings and seals, used a Gustafson shield, while it fit nice it didn't have the black around the bottom but I have since found a new screen with the black ,on the way, cleaned the carbs and installed a jet kit and it now purrs, also can't get my trip reset to work, will sent to Joel Levine and have him look at it, finally out of moth balls after a long hibernation!
  9. Vf1000r needles

The vin tag says 3 of 1986 I did check the slides and they are in fact drilled so I am now assuming it's a Dyno jet set up, i dissambled the carbs, needle and seats pilot jets main jets ,choke plungers, polished the slide bores polished the slides( they were hanging up) put it all together with needles in the 3rd clip with one washer under the needle,40 pilots 130 mains and 2.5 on the fuel screws, the bike had 35 pilots and 125 mains needle in #2 ,and it felt lean especially in the mid range, I also have a square hole in the front of the air box between the two snorkels ,maybe 4X4 inches and a KN filter, also have aluminum F1 mufflers, sooo I just started the engine and WOW throttle response is instant! Way better than it was! Finally I think it's the monster it should be, Verry Happy now, was quite a learning curve to do the carbs took me 6 hrs start to finish, so glad I did!
  10. Vf1000r needles

So I am mechanically going through my carbs and bought a jet kit for my bike took itt all apart and found 35 pilots 125 mains and a needle with C clips the kit I have uses 2 washers under the stock needles, I am assuming that the needles with the C clip must be Dyno jet needles from back a few years? I found 2 pilots clogged and floats out of adjustment? Question, do I try to find stock needles or use these as they were except for the 40 pilots and 130 mains in the kit?and is the fuel screw set at 1 turn out?
