Thank you FireStorm9. I was just thinking of starting a thread on these T-Rex frame sliders. Is anyone else using these T-Rex sliders and have any input???

I also have these sliders fitted to my 8th gen, the fact that I didn’t have to cut the fairing was the main attraction (and if I’m honest the VFR logo looks pretty good, although I believe they are no longer available with the logo) I have heard reports of them bending in accidents, however all sliders are only intended for low speed crashes or dropping while stationary. I dropped my VFR in a servo and unfortunately the tank hit one fuel bowser and the headlight the other, there was a raised area of concrete that the bowsers were fixed to so the sliders barely touched the ground so it wasn’t really a good test. I also have a GoPro mount affixed to the top of the right hand side slider, gives a great angle in videos. They do make access to one of the plastic Honda fixing pins on the lower fairing panel a bit difficult. I generally remove the upper mounting bolt, loosen the lower one and rotate it out of the way. I also have the rear and front axle nut protectors fitted. Overall I am very happy with them.762B37A1-4B74-4E17-BE55-9BE26E29DC57.thumb.jpeg.4bc48d403744870c22ee811c6066ccd9.jpeg5F63C1C0-7923-4D94-8102-AED5B60B7C88.thumb.jpeg.9ad658102b8343e0faf0b0626fbbff34.jpeg

After many years of using various high quality polish products on my VFR's I feel I've really struck gold with this one. All my motorcycle buddies know how fussy I am with my bike apperance!

Not sure if its available overseas and ok, it is an Australian product(no commercial gain to me). It's just the best and easiest I've found to date.

    Bowden's Carnuba Body Wax.

This product goes on and off sooooo easily AND leaves no annoying white polish residue on your seat or any other black surface.

Bike photo, just given a quick once over polish with this stuff. She comes up nice having done 80,000kms.

    Cheers.:fing02:

As I was nearly out of Carnuba wax ( Mother’s pure Brazilian) I went out and bought a bottle of this. Appearance of the product isn’t as rich looking as the mothers but you never said how good it smelled Grum. I could get addicted to this stuff. Used a little on the roof of my car, and it came up great. Will do the bike next week. It certainly is easy to apply and remove.

  3. Hi Grum, first time

After a two week Covid-19 lockdown due again to Quarantine incompetence, and now with only a 25km distance from home tavel allowance.🤬

Did a basic service 84,000kms. Oil and filter, airfilter, fuelled her up and added a small bottle of injector cleaner, then went for a short run up the highway, and some back roads. Put an instant smile on my face. Love this baby and she continues to purr like a kitten. :fing02:

    Cheers.

Hi Grum, first time I have noticed the small HRC decal, is a Repsol one to follow? 🤔

Am definitely interested to find out how you like the Cardo after you get some rides in, and not necessarily connected to other riders... i was looking at the Packtalk Bold w/JBL but it's A LOT more money.  I really want to know how good the audio is (for music, and travel instructions), how effective the wind-noise cancellation is, and how responsive it is to voice commands directly to the Cardo or your mobile device.

I am heading off on a 5 day ride in the middle of July, the mate I am travelling with has a M1-S Pro from Fodsports. I rarely ride in  multiple rider groups so I am mainly concerned with the music quality, rider to rider voice quality and ease of use using voice commands. At this stage I don’t use navigation devices so can’t help you there. Like you the Pactalk Bold seemed a lot of money. Will keep you posted.

  5. Just got word from Powerbronze that my screen and hugger arrived in Melbourne and are now in the post on there way to me    ( no Aust Post jokes I work for them 😄) Also just ordered a Cardo Freecom 4 plus ( JBL speaker’s) ordered from Chromeburner as even with postage it is a $100 cheaper than I can get it for in Oz. It was in FedEx’s hands less than 12 hrs after I ordered it. My cheapie Fodsports intercom is starting to cut out halfway through a ride so time for a upgrade.

  6. Fitted the new Atlas Throttle Lock this morning. Installation was easy, though I was doubting myself that it was on correctly.  I thought it was sitting up too high, but it looks the same as the photos on the instructions. I ended up using the thinnest spacer, not a lot of room between the grip and the throttle housing.

Comparing it to the Kaoko I find the Atlas much much easier to engage and disengage. I seemed to have to turn the Kaoko more than 360 deg to get it to engage. Also with gloves on I found I accidentally engaged it a couple of times in the twisties. Performance is the same, the speed wanders a little either way with both. The Kaoko is visually far better in my opinion. 5501E789-B62E-4831-B643-2C7E619E36E7.thumb.jpeg.0c38919a168a2b2eaa22dd752dde8de8.jpegD5A89285-C428-471E-8A45-5E7F520C5334.thumb.jpeg.43c46c31e8063d97393a3c98f8b08cf6.jpeg

So took the VFR out for a ride on Saturday over Sonora and Ebbits passes in California whole trip was 280 miles mostly far from any town or city mostly fun and twisty. 69 miles to go on the way home happen to be in Sonoma  Ca. the biggest city on my route and I smell oil and while at a stop see some white smoke. I pulled over to discover oil everywhere including the whole left 1/3 of my rear tire. After finding tool kit unable to do the simplest task take off enough fairing to have a good look around the oil filter where I suspect the problem is I make it to the auto parts store to get what is needed to find a fix the problem. Seems while installing the filter with a channel lock made for installing oil filters I compromised the filter and after  2000 miles of heat cycles the crease in the filter failed pissing oil. Glad I was in town and not 50 mile from even a gas station.

    Picture of the oil filter.

Glad you weren’t halfway through a sweeping left hand corner at speed 😬 Glad it was just an inconvenience for you.

Well it was 25F/-04C this morning so I waited before headingDSCF3405.thumb.JPG.cefa77842dcba832ef0fce722f9afe75.JPGDSCF3406.thumb.JPG.239ff9dbe1558b89428f1956a134d8cf.JPG out to the garage. Poured myself a mug of tea and had a go at recovering my seat. It wasn't that bad, but a few years ago something fell on it when it was -15F and punctured and cracked the vinyl, so time for a fresh cover.

Looks like a great job, before shot would have been interesting. A productive morning by the sounds of things.

  9. Last couple of rides I have done I collected a lot of Nth Qld bugs so decided today was a good day to give her a bath. All cleaned and dried. Polish and wax with synthetic Xwax tomorrow morning. Like you Grum I need to give the front chain sprocket a good clean, do you remove the lower fairing when you do this or do you find there is enough room without removing it? Also where did you get the older generation VFR badge/sticker from? All the places I have found that have them want a ridiculous amount of postage, one place wanted €21🤯. I wouldn’t mind putting one on the Powerbronze screen I have just ordered (dark tint doesn’t come with a logo)8FADD384-7A59-45FD-9FF8-83C1EF7BA6FF.thumb.png.6cc0de5e406e39393cad04c7e8b929e9.png

  10. Glad to see it didn’t put you off riding. As an immortal 20 year old (41 years ago😳) I did a superman  impersonation (for about 1 second) over the roof of a car. I still ride past the spot regularly and can still remember the accident very clearly. Luckily I was not severely injured just a fractured wrist and some skin off my knees. Nothing makes you pay more attention than your first accident.
