Thanks- I just sent him a message. Can you give me some advice about ceramic coating them? I like the look of the ceramic coated headers but have little idea about protection/longevity/durability of finish etc. Is it common to coat older headers as "insurance" against what happened to my original set?

Found 'em. Am I to assume the '98 header and the '99 are exact matches? They look very well preserved.

Thanks!

My headers said to tell you their feelings were hurt. They have been in existence since 1998 and have been through a lot.

I have a '98 VFR and I've never gotten over 30 mpg but I ride pretty aggressively. Bought it new so no critters in the airbox when I bought it

Agreed kebrider-have always used Dunlops, the last Q 2's. Never got more than 3,000 miles on a front and 2,500 on a rear but oh, what grip! At the recommendation of the guys at American Motorsports I am riding on a Pilot Road 4, as my rears were getting down to the fibers only in the center s way before the sides. Live in Nashville and have very abrasive roads around here.

Does anyone know who does ceramic coating in the middle Tennessee area? I may have to go that route as well.

Don't want to hijack This Thread but can anyone give me some pointers on what type of coolant is best. I have always used the Honda product but I know there are other aftermarket versions out there that are supposedly better at controlling Heat.

How did the low end feel different? I have a 1998 and I'm thinking about buying a new one as well.

Thanks for the reply Lorne. Sigh of relief.

My 1998 VFR has around 32000 miles on it. How long can I expect the clutch to last? It seems to be doing fine but I know everything wears out eventually.

Thanks for the info. Still hoping the header project will bear fruit tho!

I am keeping close tabs on the custom header build that is ongoing as I speak. But if that doesn't work I am assuming that there are still other options available, including from the factory. Mine are rusted and I know at some point they will have to be replaced regardless of whether they're Factory or not. has anyone ordered a header straight from Honda as a factory replacement?

I went to their website and it may be the most confusing I've yet tried to navigate. Do they offer a unit for the 1998 VFR?

Also wanted to share the glorious sound of those gear driven cams for those who don't have this Gen VFR.
