  1. Three comments, in reverse order:

    1. You are going to have a GREAT weekend. It looks like even the Assen weather is on your side! Assen is at the top of my list of motogp tracks I haven't been to (which is most of them), I'm jealous. Looking forward to more pics Leon.

    2. I continue to thoroughly enjoy your attempts to turn the RC-51 into a sport-tourer.

    3. I saw UB40 live in the 80's, great band!  😎

  2. The original final gearing is, I believe, 16 tooth front/40 tooth rear which as Timmy noted allows supersonic speeds in 6th. I switched to a 15/41 sprocket combo, ~10% difference, and although it's still high the improvement is dramatic and will probably double your clutch plate life.

In addition to what has been posted here, below is advice from luvtoleanit when I got my RC51 last summer. And I have included a photo just because I can't help it.

When you can, the minimal list:

       15/41 gearing

Kyle Racing Clip Ons (raises them up an inch and out an inch)

       New Seat

       Ohlins Rear

       Kyle Racing dogbone

       Kyle racing modified front forks

       Slip-ons and a tune

       Remove soft limiter and flapper

DUDE !   That is soo groovy.

When you get new tyres do yourself a favor:  Opt for the 190/55 rear. It costs more, but it handles sooo much better.

    +1 on the 190/55.

Timmy I'm curious what you prefer for the RC, for twisty dry public roads and the occasional track day. Mine currently has a mis-matched set of Pirelli's from the previous owner and I'll have to decide soon.

  4. Great choice Dutchy, a 2003 SP-2! Perhaps you should start a new thread detailing all your improvements (so I may copy them). Glad you didn't wait too long to give the VF500 a companion.

When I was about to purchase my first Honda V4, I was moments away from laying money down on a sweet leftover 1985 VF500. But I just couldn't love the bright red seat. So I ended up with the VF700, had it 16 years before trading it in for the first 6th gen. But I always wonder what if...

  5. AMERICAN HONDA EXPECTS TO RECEIVE THE FIRST SHIPMENTS OF THE REMEDY PARTS IN LATE 2015 TO EARLY 2016

    So...

    1. When do the new and improved driveshaft parts arrive at the dealer? Sounds like it could be next week, or next spring. Does anyone have any intel on when we will be actually able to get this fixed?

    2. And, as others have posted, what driveline slop is normal, and what is a sign of imminent disaster? My 2010 has always had a lot of driveline lash--riding around a parking garage is an unpleasant, clunky exercise in clutch control. This will definitely have me thinking going round the cliffs on the PCH!
