9 years is a respectable run with a motorcycle in its second decade of its life.
It’s definitely a buyers market with VFRs nowadays.
Good luck with the MT-09.
its not just vfrs, its modified bikes generally. Also with covid 19, it is any discretionary spending. I had a 2014 model 09 before, so looking forward to tweaking it. it will still look like an 09, but i am going to make it punch above its weight.

yeah mate i know.
Sold it to a seth african guy who sold his speed triple before he left SA to move to aus. He looked at it for 2 minutes before he said sold. He sent me a text after he had taken it for a proper ride and said he was thoroughly impressed.
Its gone to a good home, and didnt need to get stripped and sold for parts.

After i sold the cb500 super commuter and bought an MT09 i started trying to figure out how to get more power out of the vfr and realised I couldn't justify the bang for my buck. So, after about 9 years, I sold the VFR.
I will definitely miss it. Nothing will match the sound of the V4 and GDC,
On the plus side, I can afford suspension and a woolich race tune for the MT09. I sold a whole lotta bike for not much money, but these are interesting times.
I wont be dropping in as much, but this is one of the great places on the internet.

Oooh, left high mount would show off my lurid green 1098s rear wheel nicely...

Whats the difference between the 954 and 929 injectors?
And how did you radius the bottom of the airbox?
And this is brilliant work, mohawk. Im filing away more info for the next aussie winter.
-
So no dual stacks anymore? Just single stacks set just above the base of the airbox?

The new Honda CB500’s are plentiful here in the states and are cheaper to buy and repair than the VFR. They are awesome bikes as well.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkIve got a 2016 cb500f as a commuter. Springs, gold valve emulators in the front and a 94 fireblade shock and it handles like a real bike.

fresh paint keef?
Yeah, but only matte black on the rad shrouds. I put some bar end indicators into the shrouds, so thought i should finally spray them.

So, as long as we're taking the piss (as you limeys would say) with regard to English... I'm pretty sure we earned a pass on abusing the language however we please since you aren't all speaking German right now! 😁
Much easier to win a fight when you start half way through, eh?

I didnt live through the UJM, too young, and not american. My first memories of bikes i paid attention to were big gixxer 1100's. Part of the reason i had a 711 fighter.
My understanding is the american media branded them UJM's since the big 4 all made really similar looking bikes that all had more performance for less money than was currently available. For me, a kind of derrogatory term.
There is nothing universal about a fighter. If every naked bike is a UJM, that would make every harley a UAM.
I love fighters, and i heard a mates VFR and fell in love with the sound. didnt care about looks, or perfomance, that sound was magical.

I manged to get my old polisport hanguards on, and commuted on it today.
The angle of the clipons makes it really comfortable for such an aggressive setup- high seat, high pegs and low bars.
And big thankyou to mohawk and candy red. The big airbox mod and rapidbike (and quick action throttle) make my trackfighter vfr pretty quick.

I connected my OEM brake light switch with a simple L bracket.
And i love your choice of wheel.

You know what every town needs though?
A front mount radiator.

Ive also got a front mount rad, so air that has been through the oil cooler or rad wont really make a difference. Its the volume inside the airbox that makes the difference.

Very, very cool!
Why super-short stacks and not dual-stacks a la Mohawk?
Does your airbox have a lid or are you running it open?
The big airbox takes the filter and puts it into the airbox lid instead of inbetween the base and lid. The lid is what you can see.
No dual stacks because i havent got round to it yet. I have the extra stacks, just haven't done it yet. I am running with 2 x short 6th gen stacks, and 2 x super short aluminium stacks.

So, still chipping away on upgrades.
Finished my mohawk big airbox to go with the supershort velocity stacks.
Added some m4 rivnuts to the airbox lower since the OEM threads were pulling out of the plastic
Changed to all singing, all dancing apex manufacturing clip ons, so changed my extended throttle cables to ones from a cb500r. And to make 110hp feel like 150, new grips with a 1/4 turn throttle.
I may even put my barkbusters back on the clipons.
Definately more a trackfighter than a streetfighter, now.

For even more performance, you could remove the centre stand?
Yes, a little jelous i dont have a set.
-
I think the nose cone needs to angle down a bit more so it follows the line of the tank, but i love everything else. Can you take a close up pic of the rad shrouds?
And seb, those exhaust pipe tips on the performace headers. With a supercharger. Make it happen.

sebs is a lot prettier, but well, he is really, really talented.
Link to my incredibly long running thread over the years. I still love it. The TLR rad works brilliantly, but is probably harder work than the vfr750 rad to mount. However, it works so well i may ditch the oil cooler.(or change to a water/oil cooler).
I also know of someone who is running a vfr400 set of front mount rads on his fighter.
Tire size for 6-inch rear wheel
in Tires

My 2c is 190/55 on a 6 inch every time
A 180/55 stretched over a 6inch rim will flatten out and be less sharp. Harder to transition from the centre of the tyre to the edge.
When I was converting to a 1098s rear wheel, i needed a tyre. I went with a 190/50 as it would fit the stock 5.5 and 1098s 6"
It was "OK" on the 5.5,
It felt horrible on the 6". This is what i imagine a stretched 180/55 would feel like.
Changed to a 190/55 as soon as i could afford it. And gratuitous tyre pic to join in
