  1. For the OP, you have a gorgeous bike! Tastefully done. I'm envious. I have a 6th gen that I'm pretty much over. After a recent 3k mile trip I've decided I have to change it out to a 7th gen. I don't love it enough to spend any more on it, and I'd rather put that money into upgrades on a 7th gen, similar to what you did. Anyway thanks so much for sharing the pics. It's always nice to see what people are doing and hear there experience without spending a dime.
  2. And the last time you changed your coolant was? I saw 220 all time while commuting and in traffic. The same same symptoms as you described. I thought vfr's just ran hot. Changed my coolant and haven't seen it since. Go figure.
  3. This is some scary stuff here. Lots of bad scenarios playing out in my mind. Full lean getting on the throttle, etc... You sir should be thanking every lucky star.
  4. Just got back from a very long, epic ride of the southwest and the Rockies. I love vacation.
  5. I could, just enough! MotoGrapher, I was actually quite a ways North of Muir woods but I do ride Hwy1 every weekend and that's part of my regular loops. I'm so grateful to live in such an amazing area. I fall in love with the coast a little more every time I get out.

  7. Might I ask whereabouts you got that tank grip??? It's TechSpec. They have 3 types. You can buy it in sheets and cut your own shapes. It has an adhesive backing and sticks in place. I was wondering if that's what is was. Thanks!!
  8. And there it is, just got an email stating the pads are "out of stock" and they'll be refunding my $$. You know what they say? If it seems to good to be true then ...
  9. Might I ask whereabouts you got that tank grip???
  10. I just gave my forks the plasti-dip treatment last weekend. Put new tires on and have logged 300 or so miles since. It seems to be holding up well. Definitely need to be cautious when cleaning but it looks far better than the chipped up, crappy look I had before. The cost makes it well worth the time.
  11. I just ordered 2 pairs of these. At checkout the price came out to 14.66 per pair. tax was 2.20. Free Shipping. I will confirm as soon as I get a tracking number. If it's legit, the price is ridiculously cheap.
  12. It was the fuel cut off relay. I bought OEM. Not a hitch since. In the process I got a new fuel pump and learned a few things about the systems on my bike. I think the manual misled me somewhat when troubleshooting. Now I know exactly where to go 1st when the fuel pump stops priming. Bought a new multimeter as well which was long overdue.
  13. I cant believe I'm still stuck on this but I made some good progress today. I ordered a new fuel pump and installed it. Kind of a pia. Got everything back together and still the same thing. Everything comes on when the ignition is turned on, no FI codes, no fuel pump priming, cranks over hard, not start. I started going through the 2 million threads and reading old posts thoroughly. I came across one that mentioned bypassing the fuel cut-off. So I did. Keep in mind that it makes a clicking noise when I turn the key on, and tested for voltage at the brown plug under the tank per the manual. When I jumped the connector I heard the pump start running, I hit the starter and the engine started immediately!!! So assuming the relay is bad, where can I get one? This is a cheap test so I'll drop a few bucks to cross this off the list. Thanks BTW for the countless threads that can be found here. There is a wealth of information if you look hard enough.
  14. So I think I have it. I decided to use the troubleshooting steps given in the Repair Manual for the fuel pump. The 1st test is to check for voltage at the connector to the fuel pump.Turned the key on, connector has voltage, then it drops to zero. The manual says in this case to replace the pump. I just ordered one. I hope it was that simple. Seems weird to me that the pump only lasted 40k though. Does this sound typical?
  15. So I went through everything today and didn't see anything unusual. Snugged up the batt connections etc. I did notice something unusual the 1st time I went to start it again. When I turned my key to "on" the dash lit up, headlights came on, but I don't hear that buzzing sound anymore. Of course this was followed by the bike not wanting to start. Isn't the buzzing sound the fuel pump?
