  1. Welcome Matt and congrats! Looks like we're neighbors. Let me know if you want to take a spin...in a few months...
  2. Mine has done this a handful of times and all when starting off with the engine cold. I now give it a few seconds before hitting the throttle. It hasn't been an issue.
  3. Thanks for posting these! Mine was just delivered this evening and these seem to show that the new part number is 06400-MGE-306 which matches my receipt. Wanted to make sure because the guys at the dealership didn't seem to have any difficulty getting the part and didn't seem to know about the "hold-over" part. I asked if Honda was paying for the delivery fee and they pretty much laughed. It was only $40 but, hey, it wasn't my idea to bring it in.
  4. Excellent information! Looks like it just might be cost competitive to order a new one. I'll be getting with my local shop to get a quote. Found the paint numbers in another thread. Now time to pay up...
  5. Any chance you remember where? I had assumed that I would get it repainted but if the price is right...
  6. Thanks everyone! First off, the fall came after a long time in the saddle. I put the kick-stand down, stepped off, turned around to watch her go down. I still don't understand it. It's nothing I haven't done a thousand times before. Strangely enough though, I had just been playing with the emergency brake. After I got it back up I noticed I hadn't completely disengaged it. Can't see why that would have mattered though. Anyway, I'll do some research and let everyone know what I find. I was in line to get on the Tobermory Ferry in Ontario. Almost all were Harley riders. I got nothing but support and a few even came over to offer condolences and ask if I was all right. Generally speaking, bikers are a great group of people.
  7. Still trying to piece together what happened but dropped my beloved VFR on an uneven rough-paved parking lot (in front of about 30 other bikers no less). List of damages: 1. deep gouges to right crankcase cover 2. significant scratches to right mirror 3. bent and scratched right brake handle 4. scratches to right saddle bag 5. scratches to round "Honda"emblem 6. light scratches to Throttlemeister end (that thing is tough!) I'd like to keep everything OEM. I'll touch up the Throttlemeister myself and am sure that a re-paint is necessary for the saddle bag but as for the rest...any suggestions? I've come across a few internet OEM parts suppliers. Has anyone used these or is it better to go through the dealer? Thanks in advance!
  8. There should be no fear about riding too far forward with the corbin. It feels like sitting all the way back on the stock seat. If anything it pulls me farther back than I'm used to. I'm just now getting used to it. I can't say enough how nice the storage is. I can now leave both sunglasses and my regular glasses, earplugs, tire pressure gage, etc. on board.
  9. Thanks for the feedback. Do you tend to sit forward on the seat or "in the pocket"? After a little riding this past weekend I'm definitely feeling the effects of a longer reach. I'll give it a year and see how it plays out. Glad to hear the seat keeps getting better. I didn't know just how bad the stock seat was until the end of my second day in the saddle. I could feel each pressure point every time I sat down. The sliding has really gotten better, however, I find that the stock seat is better for moving around when in the corners.
  10. Thanks! After last year's butt wrenching tour through Michigan's upper peninsula I couldn't go without a decent seat again. I am really impressed by the design of the trunk. I also splurged on the heated seat. After that kind of money I figured I might as well go all the way. I decided early on that I wasn't going to go with the top case. I guess the passenger peg will remain the dedicated helmet holder.
  11. Well, here it is with the bags. Fits like glove. Now I need a few rainless days to get some miles in.
  12. I haven't yet had a chance to try the seat with the bags...I was presuming they would work together. I did a quick search and found this picture. I think I'm all set. Taycio, Thanks for the comments. I'm guessing that with 400+ miles on your seat that you've adjusted. It sounds to me like you ride forward on the seat and not actually in the seat pocket itself. I'm starting to wonder if helibars would push me back enough to get me back into the seat for typical riding. Thoughts?
  13. I just received my new Corbin with the "trunk". While it appears that the trunk is a love it or hate it thing, I can say that it's really nice to have some permanent storage. I also want to say that Corbin was super easy to deal with and the quality is fantastic. The price was hard to justify but I'm sure my seat will thank me on the long trips. I have few questions for Corbin seat owners: 1. Did you find that the seat pushed your butt back leading to a more aggressive riding position? Maybe I'm just used to hugging the tank. 2. Does the more aggressive position add to fatigue problems with arms, wrists, back, etc.? 3. Did you get used to this or did you end up having to add the heli-bars? Thanks in advance...
  14. Thanks everyone. I just had to make sure there wasn't something big there to make me regret a purchase. It sounds to me like I should just wait for a nice one to come up for sale...700 or 750. For the money I think they're the best looking bike out there. A true classic.
  15. I'm a proud owner of a 7th gen and am looking to follow up with a VFR that I can restore. I absolutely love the look of the RC-30's so I'm inclined to go with the '86 red white & blue. I'm specifically looking for something light and better in the corners. Does anyone have any recommendations about choosing between the 700 and the 750? Aside from the 50cc's is there a reason I should choose one over the other? Hp? Weight? Reliability? Thanks!
