That makes sense. Even if we get a viable vaccine by the end of the year, broad distribution may be difficult, and will take a good part of 2021. I did my part, I'm a Stage 3 Moderna guinea pig. I don't have the science skills to do anything else.

My 2002 headlights are beginning to fall apart. A new set is over $500, but I spotted these this morning. Has anyone tried them?

Yup, i was too originally going to powdercoat mine too but the workshop didnt have the time back then. So i painted the wheels on my own and tried to make as good of a job as i could. The plan is to see how well it holds up and If it starts to chip, then i definitely will powdercoat mine too. Do you have any pictures with the gunmetal wheels on your bike? Really like to see how they look
This one was handy.

Are these the BikeMaster mirrors for the CBR1000RR (2004-2007)? I noticed that Partzilla has the actual OEM parts (88110/88120-MEL-013). I replaced my originals with Honda OEM VFR a couple of years ago, but I like the idea of getting a better view without my elbows. Has anyone tried with the OEM Honda parts?

Always hated the black wheels on my bike so today i bit the bullet and decided to do something about it. I took the rear wheel off, sanded it down, sprayed some filler, primer and silver paint with clear coat on it and it came out great! I'll install some white rim tape before putting it back on my bike. I think they will look great on a red bike.
I didn't see this until today. Several years ago, I went down the paint black wheels silver route with my 2002. I hope your paint holds up better than mine, but I can tell you did a better job of prep. Mine are black chrome (read gunmetal) powdercoat and they look as good as the day I got them back in 2014. I know that I posted a photo back when I did them.

Wow. I've had HEL lines on my sixth gen for some time without issue. I'm surprised by this problem. Brake lines should last more than a few years.

Honda's obvious response should be an improved VFR1200F and X, but I'm not holding my breath, since they didn't see a need to counter the Kawasaki H2 SX, in any of its flavors. I suspect we have been orphaned by Honda, at least in the US. With my advancing age, I will either retire from riding, or look for another answer. With the maintenance I have invested in my 6th gen, I don't have to be in a hurry to make my next move.

It's a little ironic that you picked the "Bueller" reference, since Honda did the same to launch the 2012 CR-V. My wife drives a "Bueller" Red model of this car, sigh, she doesn't have the nav pictured in the ad.

Just came back from the Black Hills in SoDak. Highly recommend breakfast in Deadwood at Lee Station.

I don't think you want to take the Fort Francis/International Falls route to Bemidji, MN. I did it last year and found more than a few places on the Trans-Canada where the tarmac became gravel. I'd go down the North Shore of Lake Superior to Silver Bay and cut across. It's a very beautiful ride.

Not my bike, but what a sweet '86. I'll be in the garage, permanently, if I bring this home. https://raresportbikesforsale.com/featured-listing-1986-honda-vfr750f/

Replaced both at 50,000 miles. No issues and better low end response for the past 12,000 miles. Please note I do NOT have a Power Commander, nor any other mods to the intakes, exhausts, or electronics. Yes, I'm coming up on the 64,000 mile valve check.

I've used the Cyclops. Didn't like it.
Problem is that LED "bulbs" are flat. The LED is mounted on two sides of a flat panel (imagine a ruler with two LED's on both sides). So the light comes out ONLY on two sides. The traditional halogen light bulbs emit light in all directions. The reflector on all halogen lights are designed to reflect a 360 degree direction just like the halogen light bulbs it was designed for.
If you retrofit an LED that uses a flat panel onto a reflector designed to reflect light in a 360 degree direction, you will only get 50% of available light. The result is that you will have large shadows on the sides that the LED flat panel does not illuminate. Take a look at a factory LED headlight and you will notice the LED faces forward. Now look at the Cyclops light and you will see it faces left and right (or up and down).
In a nutshell, you will get better results using an HID bulb at a much lower Kelvin brightness (around 4,000 Kelvin or less) than you would an LED panel replacement "bulb". Or you could just replace your H4 bulbs with brighter H4 bulbs. It will work better than the LED.
Thanks. While I understand the other comment. For those of us who have reached an age where our night vision is not as good as it was, additional light is useful. I will probably look at supplemental lights such as those made by Denali. I was thinking that they could mount in the widest part of the front fairing opening to keep them low, but adding to available light.

This, IMHO, is the best solution. I'm guessing this photo is of someone in VFRD.
This is a UNIGO. And there is an archived thread here that discusses it.
They are still in business. https://www.unigotrailers.com/
Classic Industries in Australia may have a hitch. The following site lists a TH55 as fitting a 6th gen.

I'm thinking about these for my 6th gen. Has anyone tried them? https://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/Cyclops-100-H4-LED-headlight-bulb_p_192.html

I'm at 62,000 miles, or 99,200 kilometers. I've replaced components of the charging system (RR and stator), but everything else has been normal wear or "necessary" upgrades (seat, risers, pegs, voltmeter, STS auto signal, switchable circuit panel, and USB outlet). Do the maintenance, keep it clean, and you can enjoy it for a lot of years.

I realize that the last post was a while ago, but I'd like to talk about how I use my 6th gen. During my riding season from April through October, I'll commute a few days a week, go on rides with friends on the weekends, usually less than 200 miles. I try to have at least one touring trip per year of at least 1500 miles. Over the past 9 riding seasons, that's worked out to about 40,000 miles of riding. I've been to 12 states in the mid-section of the USA with North Dakota and Minnesota on the North, Oklahoma, and Arkansas on the South, Michigan on the East, and Wyoming and Colorado on the West.

I'm impressed. I sold my 2006 ex250 to get the 6th gen. I was tired of being blown all over the highway. Welcome to the Great Plains. A small frame rider could make this work. The gas tank has about a 300-mile range. I found that my shoulders tended to lock up around 200 miles on this bike.

I'm surprised this one didn't show up from someone else.

I realize it was a long trip, but a safety inspection doesn't guarantee suspension, transmission, or engine condition, just that it is road worthy. VFR's are ridden to a higher standard!

Since Honda positioned the new Goldwing to pick up old ST1300 customers, we appear to be without a new mid-weight sport tourer, especially in the US. I would love to see a Honda alternative to the new R1250RT. No, that's not a typo. The 2019s will be a 1250 model.

A dirty kill switch took out my 6th gen, but I had a lot of warning before it got ugly. I'm suspecting a wiring failure if a new battery wouldn't start it. The ignition switch could be the issue.

I'll post the ride pictures in another post, but I just learned that a dirty kill switch could shut down your bike. I was getting hard FI lights, and bike quit on my recent Lake Superior adventure. I rode through 3 days of rain at the beginning, and two days later the problem began. My 6th gen shows 61,500 miles and is a 2002 model. I was able to restart the bike when the problem originally presented itself, so I kept riding. I gave up when it died 6 times within 30 minutes inside of a small town in Minnesota. I didn't have the time or electrical talent to sort this out, so my shop took care of me. They disassembled and cleaned the switch, and that was the end of it.
VFR800X Suspension - shock arm plates

I'm glad you resolved this issue, but yes, this mod has been in discussion and debate for over a decade as the 6th gen shares its engine block design and suspension linkage design with the 8th gen and Cross. I applied the same mod to my 6th gen back in 2010, but didn't have any issues with shock setting access.
