  1. Back again and still struggling, when the low beam headlight relay is plugged out and my vfr idle's the voltage stays on 12.5 volts rev is up to 5000rpm it goes up to 13.2Volts. When the relay is plugged back in the charge goes away and the battery drains away. With the R/R unplugged the red wires test 19.8volts and plugged in without the headlight relay it goes down to12.5 volts. The stators disconected test 4.5V,11.4V and 19.5V is the stator faulty? It also gets hot when plugged in... (ps all the earth block are soldered so no bad earth connections)

    Please HELP

Bad stator, 4.5Vac reading is wrong. Replace stator,R\R and the connectors .

  2. Since '07 I believe, Honda went to recommending 10W-30 viscosity from 10W-40. How many of you are using 10W-30 with no problems? Seems mighty thin for a high revving engine in the hot weather of the South. It also seems arbitrary on Honda's part to do that. For those with 8th gens. what vis. are you using?

    No 10W-30 for me I am a T6 guy.

  3. The decals for both my girls came in today :-)

July 1986 the year my VF500F was built also the month/year I started with a certain company I am with still today (after 2 mergers and a split...).

Undecided on which color scheme would look best I simply made "3 generations"....

The nothing else matters will look good under the sidepanel VFR logo (methink) with the sane insanity apt for the VF... :goofy:

    No Dragon stickers ?

  4. Well its a sad day but I finally did it. This bike is now for sale.

I always thought I'd have this bike forever but after seeing how difficult critical engine parts are to get (i.e. impossible, at any price) this just isnt the bike for me anymore. I want a bike I can ride but this one is just too valuable. It needs to be on display somewhere so other enthusiasts can see it.

Its fully functional and I've ridden it once since the rebuild, in addition to starting it up dozens of times so people can hear it run.

Anyone who reads raresportbikesforsale.com will see it there shortly. I took a bit of a guess at the price. Its by no means a pristine RC30 but it has a different value. I'll also be contacting the Barber museum to see if they are interested, plus a collector in Sydney who has the polished frame sister of this bike.

As an RC30 owner, I just want to say thanks for getting it running and sharing the build. I saw your bike at the Handbuilt show in 2014 and really had no idea of its provenance.

    And Welcome ..

  5. No worries. Just a bunch of other "world" stuff going on and this project has taken a back seat. Once I get it installed I will post up.

Sorry to keep folks hanging, but life does tend to interrupt our best plans.

    Have a safe New Year.

Amen and no hurry we will be here .
