  1. Quick ride report: they are fine. I don't think I will move either the brake or shift lever. They seem good. Don't use the rear often (as a pedal - the linked system uses it regularly I am told), and the shifter is good for up shifts, and due to some ugly basketball/motorcycle accidents, I move my feet on the pegs to activate those two anyway. These are nice pegs, i think. Well worth the few minutes with the grinder.

    Cheers!!

  2. I have seen them online, but was wondering too...I am beginning a new phase of life, the motorcycle commuter phase (part III) and have been thinking about some new pegs. Just got a new helmet that fits really well, and would like to hear what anybody has to say. The billet ones for the Buell Ulysses from Knight Design were previously sold by wiremybike.com, but he's not selling them anymore. They used to be about 79 bucks...now 139! They must be footing the design bill for the new K.I.T.T. 2020 for the next Knight Rider series.

  3. Stockers, from '99, still going great! :)

I didn't mind the stock grips at all. I was looking for something with more grip to ease strain on my wrist, which in turn helps to relieve my carpal tunnel pain.

    Seb,

I got a pair of the "grip puppies" to slip over the OEM grips which were starting to feel loose. The change in size has indeed given a little more control, and they are very comfortable. Great for 10 bucks!

  4. PS: no real winter here...it gets cold for a while, and then it warms up. Been in the 70s the last couple days!! Got a short spin in with the wifey on her new-to-her GPz550. What a nice day, for any time of the year, but January makes it an especially nice treat! Love Louisiana (even after Katrina in New Orleans - I evacuated in time).

  5. Air charged, huh? That was all the rage, back then, I suppose. There is nothing really *wrong* with the current forks. I am thinking in terms of ease (for me)...no time to take on another project (my dissertation on signaling cues and neuronal cell patterning seems to eat a disproportionate amount of my time lately). Was hoping for a simple bolt up, with maybe some new springs, re-routing the brakes. Just a 1 day job. Anything longer than a few hours risks permanent back burner status!

    Cheers!

  6. Seb, what size, how tall, are the old forks from the CB? I have a Kawi GPz 550 (85 model, couldn't find a miniceptor for the wife), and it has those attrocious AVDS-pneumatic-spring-loaded-damper-rod-forks. They are 35mm and I am wondering about replacing with some "normal" forks from the period. And are they straight? Are you interested in selling them?

    PM me? Thanks!

    Jimmy

  7. Ding Ding Ding :cheerleader: We have a winner !

So many people confuse what people have done with (mostly) 4th gen VFR750's with what's possible on the 5th and 6th gen VFR800. You can sleeve a Ducati eccentric for the 800 as well, but you are still going to have to deal with the 3-piston rear caliper.

Looks like I will be doing a spindle for another board member with a 5th gen this spring. They are going to fab their own brake caliper stay for use with a Ducati caliper, so those of you not afraid to delink your brakes may soon have a reasonable method of putting aftermarket wheels on your VFR800

How many of these will you/can you make?

  8. Thanks for this Miguel. Put in some Sonic Springs (1.0) tonight after work in under an hour. Got the springs very cheap from Jamie Daugherty. Now if my 929 shock with heavier spring will just show up...the USPS tracking number says "out for delivery", but its 715pm!

Thanks again Miguel, and thanks to BaileyRock, too!
