Member Contributer CBVFRbikeboy Posted December 30, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted December 30, 2016 Is there an easy way to remove the choke plunger from these carbs, or do I have to prise the 2 tangs on the lever apart? cheers
Member Contributer COS_VFR Posted December 30, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted December 30, 2016 It has been awhile since I had the carbs apart on my 4 Gen, but I think i just unscrewed the black nut.
Member Contributer CBVFRbikeboy Posted December 30, 2016 Author Member Contributer Share Posted December 30, 2016 Yeah, I tried that, but I can't seem to clear the two tangs of the lever? Should I just wriggle it til it comes free? I guess you'd remember if you had to take to it with a screwdriver or something to spread the tangs? thanks
Member Contributer CBVFRbikeboy Posted December 30, 2016 Author Member Contributer Share Posted December 30, 2016 OK. Got it. Seems you can only do it properly when the carbs are apart. Remove the choke linkage by undoing the nut on top. Slide the plastic tube up and out of the locating clamps. Slide the linkage fork out of the split lower clamp and it will disengage from the plunger end. Done. Not enough clearance to pull the tube with the plenum in place. Member Contributer COS_VFR Posted December 30, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted December 30, 2016 I think the choke linkage comes of the 4th Gen carbs relatively easy, but it's been over a year since I had them apart and I did a complete teardown.
