BiKenG
As far as I can see, there is a single wire between the ECU and the dash which is used by the ECU to tell the dash what the current gear position is. Each gear position has an individual wire connection from the Gear Position Sensor to the ECU, but there seems to be only that one 'channel' to the dash. So... Has anyone had a look at this and figured out how the ECU tells the dash what gear it's in? Is it some encrypted signal or just a voltage that varies depending on which gear is selected? I don't yet have a bike to play with myself, but thought someone might have already had a look into this. Anyone?
elfreako
This should help you out: http://vfr1200fa.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/gear-position-sensor-mod-or-how-to-de.html I was lazy and bought an adapter so I can just plug/unplug when I want: http://www.bazzaz.net/index.php/z-bomb/z-bomb-vfr1200-10-14 You don't even need to take any fairings off, it plugs in on the side of the bike near the foot leaver.
