mcrwt644 Posted April 6, 2014 Share Posted April 6, 2014 1991 vfr 750....what are the torque specs for the clutch basket? the bolts that hold the outer basket to the inner basket? also, what would be causing noise on that side? This bike has been sitting for at LEAST 12 years and I got her running the other day. The clutch is very noisy. I pull the clutch in and it's quiet. I mean NOISY. I pulled the side cover (found right away even at 11353 miles the starter clutch was cracked) but didn't find much. No cracked or worn teeth, nothing. The only 'odd' thing was the clutch came out in one piece...I grabbed the outer plate and the entire pack came out. I have it all soaking in 10/40 right now after checking each plate as well as the outer basket. The outer basket bearing is also soaking in 10/40.
