1st/2nd Generation VF/VFR Exhaust info

GazVF500's exhaust thread brought back all kinds of memories of beautiful exhaust sounds from many VF/VFRs from way back in a time when V-4s rumbled on the street, strip, and tracks I frequented in my highschool youth of the mid & late 1980s. His thread also reminded me that I have a small collection of catalogs from that era and really should get them scanned to file at some point before some natural catastrophe or the never ending march of time ruins them for good.

There's some goodies stashed in my collection, probably make for a good episode of American Pickers when my wife sticks it all in a garage sale about 24 hrs. after I leave this earth! (joking, she'd wait at least 48... ;)

Anywho, I'll post some text excerpts tonite and try to start scanning tomorrow at work, because some of the catalogs are quite large, I'll only focus on VF/VFR specifics, but since I'm sure some of you own or are at least interested in other brands/models, I may be pursueded to take a couple small requests.

***Information taken straight from catalogs as printed in the USA version.***

Nice clean '86, love it. Probably could still get a Hindle race baffle in there if you wanted a bit more sound from her. 90 HP at the wheel isn't bad at all for what I would assume is a near stock '86 VFR-750. Schwantz's '86 GSXR-750 superbike only made 102HP at the wheel, and that was with 2mm oversize piston, cams, head work, port work, 38/40mm carbs, Falicon rods, etc.

This bike has a jet kit in it (not sure what kind), k&n, -1 front +1 rear sprockets... Stock internals as far as I know lol. A race baffle? Where :O

I love the brochure for the '86 you posted. I especially liked the part about the "Earth shattering Power!". Ah, marketing departments!

I have a Micron on mine, it has "PCH 35" stamped on it next to Micron Race. I put the Supertrap two pipe system on it for a while, but went back to the Micron because I liked the power delivery on it much better. It originally had a funny outward angle to it, had to make a small cut and weld to it to get it line up with the side of the bike.
