Member Contributer grandall1972 Posted June 17, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted June 17, 2012 - What is the best sealant, silicone, or liquid gasket maker to use when I replace the old crankcase cover with the new crankcase cover? - I know Honda has the Honda Bond they recommend, but I didn't get to the Honda shop before they closed today. - I am thinking of using permatex RTV ultra black silicone adhesive, but just wanted to check what everyone thought was best before I proceeded. Thanks,
Member Contributer vfrurknee Posted June 17, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted June 17, 2012 Whatever you use be careful that you don't push a slug of sealant ahead of the screw. My son just had to replace the block of a CBR 1000 where someone had used silicone and blocked an oil passage.

Member Contributer grandall1972 Posted June 18, 2012 Author Member Contributer Share Posted June 18, 2012 Thanks for the input. I replaced it today, and it was very easy. Just going to wait and see if there are any leaks in the morning. So far everything looks great though.
