vfrflanders
Thanks to Tin I know the VFR 1200 has the front fender in common with a 2006/2007 CBR-1000RR. Thanks to another topic I know the levers were also used on the Honda RC51. I think they even use(d) the mirrors on CBR's... Why don't we make a catalogue of all this parts Honda used on other bikes and pin this topic? Looking for second hand parts, aftermarket parts, even cheaper OEM parts, can make our living a lot easier and cheaper... What do you think? TiN
Yea I think you are right on the mirrors. They look exactly alike minus the black vs silver.
Jessman
+2 on the mirrors... This sounds Like a good idea to get a list up for future reference.
vfrflanders
My first contribution: Replacing your bleeders by Speed Bleeders on your VFR 1200 F (don't know for DCT) Honda doesn't say what bleeders they use. Brands like Goodridge or Stahlbus don't have the VFR 1200 in their catalogue yet. A few weeks ago I installed my Stahlbus Speed Bleeders. So, what do you need to replace all your bleeders (clutch and brake)? For the VFR you need 5 speedbleeders Standard lenght M8x1.25 (thread length 16mm) Some info: Brands like Goodridge use codes like this SB8125 or SB8125L. SB refers to Speed Bleeder, 8 to 8 mm, 125 to the thread 1.25. L doesn't refer to the length of the thread, but to the (longer) nipple. Standard thread length is 16 mm, but you have also longer threads. Front right caliper bleeder: 1X SB8125 or SB8125L (lever brake line) Front left caliper center bleeder: SB8125 or SB8125L (lever brake line) Front left caliper upper bleeder: SB8125 or SB8125L (pedal brake line) Rear caliper bleeder: SB8125 or SB8125L (pedal brake line) Clutch slave bleeder: SB8125 or SB8125L (lever clutch line)

TiN
There are 3 parts of the Honda OEM part number separated by hyphens (EX: 12345-ABC-A1234). If the middle 3 letters/digits do not say MGE then the part is probably retrofitted from another model and may be used on several models. The 3 letters only place which bike the part was originally designed for and is called the "parts classification number" Example: Front Wheel bearings are part number 91053-MCS-G01. I.E. they should originate from a ST1300. Not absolute on year but it gives a good start for tracking down cross reference. Here is the best list of model codes I have found to date for newer model Hondas - http://www.vsource.org/VFR-RVF_files/BHondaPCNs.htm

Member Contributer crazybrother Posted September 21, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted September 21, 2012 Ok, I used the same levers as another member for the RC51 2000-2006 from Ebay and they fit perfectly for $50.00 shipped. Here's the link, just make sure you order them for the RC51 or they won't ship... Don't know why, but they will not sell them to you if you say there for the 2010 VFR... http://www.ebay.com/itm/160767686895?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Member Contributer crazybrother Posted September 23, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2012 OK guy's I have an edit on my previous post, the levers fit great but the brake lever does not engage the brake switch. So there might be a problem. Can any of you guy's that have the same levers verify that yours are the same? That little corner thats missing needs to be square to engage the switch. Thanks. vfrflanders
Thanks for the info crazybrother. I have the same one. Didn't notice. I've been driving for weeks with my brake lights on!! Needs some thinking to fix this (in a good way)....
Member Contributer crazybrother Posted September 23, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2012 vfrlanders, so yours is the same? Is your brake light staying on? I sent an email to the ebay seller,to see if they have any ideas.
vfrflanders
Yes, the brakelights stay on. The switch is a "pull-type" (correct word?). When the lever is at rest, the button is pushed in (should be) and you have open electric circuit (no current running). Once you pull the lever, the switch button is released and and electric circuit is closed (current running - stop lights start to burn). Tomorrow I'm going to take a closer look. Member Contributer crazybrother Posted September 23, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2012 Here's a comparison of the two... OEM and these: They are not the same, where the lever makes contact with the brake switch. That little corner thats missing is where the problem is, it needs to be square to make contact. I also just found out that the Brake Switch is exactly the same Honda OEM part # SWITCH ASSY., FR. STOP 35340-MM5-600S So the difference must be in the Master Cylinder.
