anvil
I have a VF500F that the tail light likes to randomly go out. Some days I turn the ignition on and it works, other days not so much. The brake lights work and all fuses are good. This sounds like a dirty or loose connection. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? (bad pun) Thanks in advance. Guest
Remove the bulb, clean the contacts on the socket and bulb, apply some dielectric grease to the bulb base and reinstall.
Member Contributer CasualSwede Posted April 5, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted April 5, 2012 This intermittent tail light thing was happening on my '95 for awhile too. Turned out to be corrosion. Where the ground wires for each bulb are soldered together had corroded and come loose. Jiggling it until the light came on was a "fix" until I took things apart and found the corrosion. Hope that helps, it's another thing to look for. anvil
Thanks fellas. Of course the light came back on before I did any cleaning. I went over the light bulb connections, cleaned them and added dielectric grease. I went over the tail light connections and made sure all contects were solid. So far so good.
