Soft luggage at bargain prices

Today I stumbled across what I felt were bargain-prices for a magnetic tank bag ($29), pair of soft saddlebags ($49) and a tail bag ($27) on clearance at Northern Tools.

Right now you can purchase all three for just $105 plus shipping. Rain covers are even included for each item...in high- visibility green no less!

While the quality may be questionable, this still seems like a heck of a deal for anyone interested in scoring a matching set of soft luggage for relatively few $$.

Northern also offers a good variety of other items for motorcycling and trailering.

Before running across these items at Northern yesterday I ordered a Tourmaster Cortech Tribag magnetic tank bag from a seller on e-bay last week which was delivered Tuesday. Seemed like a good price @ $88 w/free shipping and I'm pleased with the design & flexibility of the product.

Last week I also scored a like-new & barely-used set of Cortech sport saddlebags from a local seller on craigslist for $70 (1/2 MSRP).

Otherwise, I probably would have considered purchasing the tank, saddle and tail bags now advertised at clearance prices on Northern Tools' website.

Still, after investing just $158 for the Cortech Tribag magnetic tank bag and Cortech sport saddlebags I've been pleased by the value & quality of these products.

As far as what I intend to use the soft luggage for, I like to take extended day and weekend rides when I can and am hoping to make a trip down the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Deals Gap area in Sep. or Oct. since I haven't been able to make it down there for several years. I'm also hoping to attend TMac next year.

Two weeks ago I took a 700+ mile trip to ride through the VA and WV mountains over three days and after riding with the weight of all my gear stuffed in one backpack, aching shoulders each afternoon after riding several hundred miles convinced me it was time to invest in some soft luggage for use on the viffer. Note that I also own a '94 ST1100 w/hard luggage which I can always ride in lieu of the viffer when I may need to carry a larger load consisting of camping gear, etc. so it didn't make financial sense to invest several hundred $$ more for hard bags and mounts to fit my 13 year-old viffer.
