rikkvfrrrrrr
well i'm about to tomorrow, prefer above the seat/handle grab bar mounts been looking around alot and can't tell if the top plates will marry up? or if i'm going to be doing some mods. plan is oem top case mount with givi v46, which i already have from an st1300. i'm guessing givi makes the honda top case anyway
rikkvfrrrrrr
I'm still working on this... Ordered the rack and it comes with a part list that includes the top plate, but no top plate.... Dealer follows up with Honda who follows up with Givi and so I'm told, Givi has stopped including the mounting plate with rack, and now includes it with with the top case. So now I'm hoping some kind soul might know if the top plate that comes with the OEM rack and cases is a "Monokey" top plate or a "Monolock" top plate??? The V46 topcase I want to use it with is a Monokey case. I'm asking the question in case I get a Monokey top plate through another channel, I'm wondering if it will fit to the OEM rack I have without mods??? If I have to make mods, I'm thinking of ordering the top plate rack for the ST1300 I had. Before I sold it I made a template and with 4 new drill holes in the vfr800 OEM rack the st1300 givi plate with work fine.
rikkvfrrrrrr
I figured it out from the Givi web site. The OEM case should be a "MONOKEY" So.... the million dollar experiment/question, if the OEM case is a Givi Monokey and the V46 is a Givi Monokey will the V46 fit on the plate sent with the OEM case/rack? It sounds like it should. Now how do I get the plate with the OEM rack???
rikkvfrrrrrr
I had a helpful discussion with Suzy at twissted throttle. From that I'm deducing..... The OEM top case won't fit a standard Monokey plate. The options are; 1) order the universal monokey plate, E250 http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/100 not sure how this will fit/attach to the OEM rack 2) order the 'rack/plate' for the st1300. I had a 1300 until I sold it. I made a template of the rack. Drill 4 easy holes in the OEM rack and it fits perfect. Will raise the case up about 2 inches higher then the oem case 3) order the freakin OEM top case and be done with it. but i'm very pleased with the v46 i had on my st1300 and the oem top case looks much bigger, cyclops like. even though they are both 45L cases
rikkvfrrrrrr
Just found the OEM top case does not come color matched to either the 2007 red or 2007 blue. It comes in glossy black. I've seen color matched 2007 blue and red topcases. Are folks having them painted afterward??? seems odd Honda would color match all other years. Maybe it's because 2007 has two color schemes. Could always order the 05 or 04 red I can't find the dimensions for the oem top case on line or at the honda dealer. It doesn't look as sleek as the Givi v46 in photos, but i'm wondering how big is the diff really. Will someone measure the top case length, width, depth??? house
I was looking at a topbox as well and discovered that you can easily find the colormatched 07 colors anywhere but the us! You may want to start with David Silver Spares, but there are several others as well.
rikkvfrrrrrr
I spent about 4 weeks sleeping on the two choices then pulled the trigger on the give case for personal taste to mount the give monokey top cases to the oem top rack use The givi universal plate Givi E250 Monokey Topcase Adapter Plate $63.00 worked just fine, no need for any modifications. orderd from twistted throttle http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/100 the holes in the 'plastic mesh' actually lined up with three mounting holes in the 2007 vfr800 OEM top case mounting rack, i DID NOT use the "mounting plate" that came with the oem rack. I just lined up the plastice universal plate from givi with the two rear holes and one front hole in the oem rack, i was able to use the OEM included bolts and nuts for these 3 aligned holes, then i used one bolt/bracket/washers/nut set from Givi in the 4th front hole. very solid application i used the v46 topcase which turns out to be a little wider and a little shorter/lower/squatter then oem, a little larger capacity and for my taste lower profile look i liked the sturdiness and look of the oem rack much cleaner lines then the givi rack i have pictures i'll post when i get back from vaca in october sorry i haven't posted the results on this, it took me along time to get around to it and now i'm on vacation

I did something similar with the Coocase S48 Astra. The only differences are that the Coocase comes with a universal plate (along with the goofy name  ), and I was able to use the mounting hardware in all four of the mounting holes on the OEM rack (though I did have to make a run to the hardware store from some 50mm machine screws). Also available from Twisted Throttle ($275), with shipping free until 10/15/08.
