enzed_viffer
Whereas before I would button off and gingerly negotiate both corners, now I confidently ignore the corner, look way ahead, and fully commit myself Maybe you're just that much damn better in the skills department? Did you wake up one morning, able to get through quadratic equations without pen/paper/calculator? :offtopic: And can now ride like the wind? Actually..... :salesman: No. But there is something to that. Last week I WAS riding somewhat more aggressively than previous weeks, and that certainly helps. Member Contributer VFR FLYER Posted December 2, 2007 Member Contributer Share Posted December 2, 2007 Apart from her uncle in Canadia, who's only a couple of years older than her! He moved there to sell refrigeration to eskimos or somesuch. Next time you talk to him, tell him I want my money back. Turns out I can't use it cuz me igloo don't have no power outlet. :offtopic: then why don't you run the refridgerator off the bike electrical. the stator puts of 60-70 vac and enough amps to supply a small transformer up to 120 vac. see! you just weren't improvising! :goofy:
Member Contributer ggathagan Posted December 2, 2007 Member Contributer Share Posted December 2, 2007 The trusty Triumph is going to get some "compression tinkering" in the next few days.......rode it harder lately on really tight switchbacks, and found a "teensy off-throttle dead spot squirm" I want removed. Not anything deadly, just slightly bothersome................. Screw the Triumph !! What about the Ruckus !? :P

What about the Ruckus !? :P my thoughts exactly! i called and talked to the race tech guys. they also rebuild the stock showa shock.....about half the price of my penske and never be "a good shock" ...............suspension is better than a new bike. mine is near perfect, so i wouldn't step down to the suspension of a new bike! unless of course, someone wants to get me an aprilla!
enzed_viffer
Update While I'm satisfied with the setup of the Elka (now that I've wound on two more clicks of rebound damping, and one less click of compression), the front end is (unsurprisingly) not quite as good. Quite frankly, I think in some ways it feels worse than before the upgrade, being more bouncy. The handling in corners is better, but it's annoyingly 'jiggly' the rest of the time. I tried winding off the preload by 3/4 of a turn this morning, and if anything that's made it worse (more jiggly). I'm assuming the jiggliness is insufficient damping, caused by the 0.95 kg/mm springs overwhelming the dampers. My plan at the moment is to suck out say 150ml of the 10Wfork oil, and replace it with some 20W oil, which should give me ~15W, and (hopefully) slightly improved damping. If this doesn't work, then Plan C is to buy some GoldValves, or get the local Ohlins specialist to 'do his thang'.
